India on Friday flagged to the UAE some of the issues faced by its agriculture sector, including problems faced by rice exporters, during a meeting here. Exporters body FIEO today said huge business opportunities exist in the UAE for domestic textile and apparel sector. It said a 112-member business delegation from the sector is participating in the 'International Apparel & Textile Fair' (November 1-3) in Dubai. India is UAE's largest trading partner and export to the Emirates in 2016 touched USD 32 billion, FIEO (Federation of Indian Export Organisations) said in a statement. A Sakthivel, Regional Chairman, FIEO Southern Region said India and the UAE need to work together in textile segment to promote trade of high quality products. It also said India earns around 27 per cent of the foreign exchange from export of textiles. The sector contributes about 14 per cent of the total industrial production of India. The sector employs over 35 million people directly and accounts for 21 per cent of the total employment generated in the economy, it added.
