Honda Cars India on Saturday reported a 28 per cent increase in its domestic sales to 9,072 units last month as compared to 7,103 units in March this year. Of course, it has had an impact on the business and deliveries in the marketplace," Honda Cars India Senior Vice President and Director (Marketing & Sales) Rajesh Goel said in a statement. Many parts of the country have been on safety-related lockdowns in the last couple of weeks and the industry may see this continuing in May as well, he noted. "We are working closely with all our stakeholders and assisting in every possible way to tide through this situation," Goel noted.

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Monday reported a 28.3 increase in domestic sales at 9,324 units in February as compared with the same month last year. The company had sold 7,269 units in the domestic market in February last year, HCIL said in a statement. Exports for the period under review stood at 987 units as against 64 units in the year-ago period, it added. "The market demand continues to be good which is reflected in our positive growth in February sales," HCIL Senior Vice-President and Director Marketing & Sales Rajesh Goel said. However, the shortage of semiconductor related parts impacted the company on the supply front last month, which limited its production volume and dispatches for certain models, it added. "The strong demand for our popular sedans Amaze and City in fact exceeded the supply last month and we seem to be heading towards sustainable market recovery except for a few challenges," HCIL Senior Vice-President and Director Marketing & Sales Rajesh Goel said. "As for our new line which we had made in our fourth factory in Gujarat, we call it our third line. The construction activity and other activities went on as per schedule. However, we have put on hold the decision on when to start production at that line because the overall market has shrunk.
