India records 94 new Covid-19 infections, active cases fall to 1,934

India saw a single-day rise of 94 new coronavirus infections, with the active cases declining to 1,934, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday. The total tally of COVID cases on Monday stood at 4.46 crore (4,46,82,015). The overall death toll stands at 5,30,735 with two deaths -- one death reconciled by Kerala and one reported by Uttar Pradesh in last 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am stated. The daily positivity was recorded at 0.11 per cent while the weekly positivity was 0.08 per cent. Active cases now comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections, with decrease of 26 cases in the last 24 hours. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry website. The number of people who have recuperated from the infection surged to 4,41,49,346. HLL Lifecare pays Rs 122.47 cr dividend to health ministry for FY 2021-22

State-owned HLL Lifecare Limited has paid a dividend of Rs 122.47 crore to the health ministry for financial year 2021-22, an official statement said. The cheque was presented to Union Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya by Beji George, Chairman and Managing Director, HLL at an event here on Wednesday. HLL had a record turnover of Rs 35,668 crore and a profit before tax of Rs 551.81 crore in financial year 202122. Mandaviya said the company played an important role in the procurement and distribution of emergency medical supplies during the pandemic, supporting the Union Health Ministry in managing COVID-19. "As a nodal agency for procurement and supply of emergency medical items for COVID -19 pandemic management, it has enabled real time management of the crisis," Mandaviya added. In the wake of bird flu cases being reported in the State, Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Sunday said there was no cause for concern, but precautions need to be taken for preventing transmission of the infection to humans. 98.7% decline in Kala-azar cases since 2007 in India: Health Ministry

There has been a 98.7 per cent decline in cases of Kala-azar from 44,533 in 2007 to 834 in 2022 in India, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday. India is committed to eliminating Kalaa-azar from the country by 2023, it said. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who chaired a high-level meeting to review the status of Kala-azar disease in the four endemic states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal, said 632 (99.8 per cent) endemic blocks have already achieved elimination status (less than one case per 10,000). Only one block (Littipara) of Pakur district, Jharkhand is in the endemic category (1.23 cases/10,000 population). "We are working holistically with the state government and other stakeholders to achieve elimination in Jharkhand," he said.
