Soon after the news came about the leader's demise, Shah drove to the hospital to share the family's grief. The home minister met Mulayam's family members, including son and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, at the hospital and expressed his condolences. Earlier in a tweet in Hindi, Shah hailed the three time UP chief minister as a champion of democracy who raised his voice during the emergency. More than 200 residents of a housing society in Sector 72 here fell ill with complaints of vomit, bloating, fever, and diarrhoea possibly from infected supply of water. The mass breakout was reported in the Spaze Privy society which comprises about 600 houses with about 2,000 people living in them. The city health department on Tuesday conducted an emergency OPD in the society, examining 80 people and treating 60 of them for nausea, vomiting, and loose motion. The condition of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav continues to be critical and on Tuesday he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Medanta hospital in Gurugram, the hospital said. Yadav, 82, was in the critical care unit of the hospital till Monday. "Mulayam Singh ji is still critical and admitted in the ICU of Medanta hospital and is being treated by a comprehensive team of specialists," said the health bulletin issued by the hospital, and tweeted by the Samajwadi Party on its official handle. "We all wish for his speedy recovery and long life," the party said. Yadav has been under treatment at the Medanta Hospital since August 22. He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday. The SP patriarch was also admitted to the facility in July, according to sources.

A call about a bomb threat sparked panic at a hotel in Gurugram on Tuesday and a search is on to trace it, police said. The call was received at Leela Hotel in the Ambiance Mall complex around 11:35 am. The police were immediately informed following which bomb disposal and dog squads reached the hotel and evacuated it, sources said. A senior police officer said that the threat call to the hotel was made from a mobile number which was found switched off. Some Gurugram Police personnel, allegedly living in an unauthorized manner in flats meant for people belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) here, have been asked to vacate the premises by Thursday evening, police said. It happened only after an EWS flat resident of the society filed a complaint to CM window through her lawyer against some cops residing in about 10 flats there. According to the complaint filed by EWS flat number 106 owner- Kailash Devi who filed a complaint through her lawyer at CM window that out of 90 EWS flats only 42 flats were allotted by the builder in 2009. The remaining flats were still not allotted to any where some cops were living in an unauthorized manner for a long time. Authorities carried out a drive on Wednesday and demolished three illegal colonies here, officials said. The team used a JCB machine to demolish illegal constructions, boundary walls of four plots among other structures, they said. District Town Planner (Enforcement) Amit Madholia said these illegal colonies had come up in Farrukhnagar, Mubarikpur and Taj Nagar. The department had received a complaint which was investigated, he said. "After probing the matter, the complaint was found to be true following which notices were also issued to those who developed these colonies illegally. "They were instructed to remove the illegal constructions but even after issuing them notices, when these structures were not removed, the department's team demolished the three illegal colonies spread over five-and-a-half acres. The drive against the illegal construction will be continue," said Madholia said.
