Decide on sanction for prosecution against govt officers within 6 mths: HC

The High Court of Karnataka has quashed the cognizance taken by a Magistrate court in 24 criminal cases against a former executive officer of a Panchayat as there was no sanction obtained for prosecution from the competent authority in any of the cases. The Court also directed the authorities to decide on granting sanction for prosecution against government officers within six months of such requests being made. "In the wake of such litigation being generated on indecisiveness of respective Competent Authorities either on the ignorance of the Investigating Agency in not requesting for sanction or the indecisiveness of the respective Competent Authorities in not passing necessary orders, I deem it appropriate to observe that the concerned Competent Authority shall henceforth decide on the requisition sent by the Investigating agency, with an outer limit of six months, if not earlier, as only on account of want of sanction the proceedings are quashed even in cases where corruption is .

Central Vista: CPWD floats new tender, cuts down project cost by Rs 225 cr

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has floated a revised pre-qualification bid to build an office complex for MPs at a cost of Rs 1,210 crore, reducing the project cost by Rs 225 crore. The proposed buildings will come up at plot number 119 in Lutyens' Delhi, where the Transport Bhawan and the Shram Shakti Bhawan are currently located. According to the revised bid document floated on Thursday, the total plinth area of the proposed buildings is approximately 98,000 square metres while in the previous tender, it was 1,18,000 square metres. The buildings will have eight floors. In the earlier tender, the proposal was for 10-storey structures. New chambers for the members of Parliament are part of the Union government's ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project and those will be built by demolishing the Transport Bhawan and the Shram Shakti Bhawan. People holding public office should exercise self restriction and not blabber things which are disparaging or insulting to other countrymen, the Supreme Court said on Tuesday. Centre to launch campaign focussing on cleanliness in govt offices

Union Minister Jitendra Singh will launch a special campaign here on Sunday focussing on cleanliness and reducing pendency in government offices, according to an official statement. Until now, more than 67,000 sites have been identified by ministries/departments of Government of India for conducting the cleanliness campaigns, the statement issued on Saturday said. Around 21 lakh physical files and 3 lakh e-files are due for review during the campaign. For the first time this year, the campaign will also focus on e-files and their review, it said. The campaign 2022 reinforces importance of timely disposal of references and a clean work space. This is expected to cover a number of post offices, overseas mission/posts, railway stations, and other public offices in mission mode during the month-long campaign, it said. Odisha can re-engage retired employees to fill 50% of entry-level vacancies

Administrative departments in Odisha would be able to re-engage retired employees up to 50 per cent of entry-level vacancies without seeking permission from the Finance department. A government circular issued on Thursday said the departments would, however, require the approval of the Finance department if they engage retired employees beyond 50 per cent of the entry-level vacancies. About 73,000 posts at the entry level are lying vacant in the state. The monthly consolidated remuneration of the retired employees who will be re-engaged was also revised. The consolidated monthly remuneration for retired employees on re-engagement was revised to Rs 50,000 for Pay level 17, Rs 46,000 for Pay level 15 and 16. The retired employees who will be given re-employment in Pay levels 11, 12, 13, and 14, will get Rs 35,000 every month and those in Pay levels 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 will get Rs 20,000. Mosquito breeding found at govt offices, public places in Delhi: MCD

Mosquito breeding was found at public places and government offices, including a police academy and a metro station, during an anti-dengue drive following which legal measures were taken, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi said on Friday. This year, MCD has issued "82,490 legal notices and 28,846 challans so far against defaulters," the civic body said in a statement. Intensifying its ongoing drive for prevention and control of vector-borne diseases, the MCD has carried out a "massive drive to detect mosquito-breeding in the premises of government offices, construction sites, schools, universities, educational institutes, metro parking lots, metro stations". During the drive, mosquito breeding was found on their premises and the "department issued 42 challans and 18 notices", it said. Action against these entities were taken under the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Malaria and other Mosquito Borne Diseases), Bye-Laws, 1975 Act. E-office implemented in all central govt departments: Jitendra Singh

Digitisation or e-office has been implemented in all central government departments, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday. In addition, several departments like the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ministry of Finance, Department of Justice, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances, provide facility to citizens to submit their applications and grievances at portals, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh told the House in a written reply. "As a part of digital secretariat, e-office has been implemented in all ministries/ departments in Government of India. Central registry units in the ministries have also been digitised," he said. The website of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) has features to facilitate the parliamentarians to make online recommendations of work and track progress thereon, the minister added.
