The Maharashtra government on Tuesday told the Bombay High Court that Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co Ltd had left no stone unturned to create unnecessary hurdles for acquisition of land, owned by the company, for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project. A division bench of Justices Nitin Jamdar and Sharmila Deshmukh was hearing a petition filed by Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co Ltd challenging an order of September 15, 2022 passed by the state government awarding compensation to it for land acquisition for the project. The company, in their petition, sought that the high court direct the state government to not start the process of awarding compensation and initiate possession proceedings. The state government, in its affidavit filed by deputy collector (land acquisition) Jagatsing Girase, termed the company's allegations as frivolous, baseless, unwarranted and unsubstantiated. Godrej & Boyce on Monday said it is investing an additional Rs 300 crore at its facility in Gujarat's Dahej to double revenues from the process equipment arm by FY25. Godrej Process Equipment (GPE) is investing to strengthen presence in the hydrogen and power sectors for delivery of specialised and large equipment for which Rs 300 crore investment is being made, according to an official statement. The expansion will increase the manufacturing area by approximately 25,000 square metres, it said, adding that at present it serves client needs in the oil and gas, chemicals and fertilizers, and power sectors. The facility, commissioned in 2016, houses units to manufacture and deliver over-dimensional consignments for global projects, it said. Godrej & Boyce has bagged a Rs 468 crore order from Nuclear Power Corporation of India to supply steam generators for 700 MW pressurized heavy water reactors (PHWR) project. The company's process equipment division will be supplying the generators for the indigenous project and is the biggest order for the division yet, Godrej & Boyce said in a statement. Steam generators are critical equipment in a nuclear power plant for generating clean (non-fossil) and reliable source of power for baseload requirements, the statement said. The generators will be manufactured at the company's facility in Dahej, Gujarat. For decades now, Godrej Process Equipment has been a leading global fabricator of high end critical static equipment for the process industry. Godrej group firm Godrej & Boyce is eyeing sales of Rs 320 crore from its mid-premium home furniture and decor brand Script by FY 2020 as it expands its sales network, a top company official said Thursday. The company would open 18 stores in seven major cities -- Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Bengaluru -- in the next three years. It would also invest around Rs 50 crore per annum in the coming years -- Rs 20 crore on expansion and Rs 30 crore for branding and marketing expenses. "We are expecting sales of Rs 320 crore from Script by FY2020," Script Business Head Rajat Mathur told PTI. As part of its expansion, Script would open five stores in Delhi-NCR in the next three years as the company is expecting the region to be a major market.
