A massive fire that broke out at a wholesale market in the Bhagirath Palace area of Chandni Chowk was brought under control on Tuesday even as the cooling process is underway for the sixth consecutive day, officials said. A massive fire at a cloth manufacturing plant in central China's Henan province has killed at least 38 people and injured two others, local officials said on Tuesday, the latest fatal industrial accidents to hit the country in recent years. A major fire broke out in the electrical meter room of a 20-storey residential building in Maharashtra's Thane city on Monday, a civic official said. No one was injured in the blaze which broke out at around 3.30 am in the building located in Balkum area, Thane Municipal Corporation's regional disaster management cell (RDMC) chief Avinash Sawant said. He said 24 out of the total 75 electrical meter boxes installed in the premises were destroyed in the fire. The power supply to the building was cut off immediately after the blaze erupted, he said. As many as 85 fire incidents were reported in Mumbai during the first three days of Diwali celebrations, of which 37, or nearly 44 per cent, were caused by crackers, said the Fire Brigade on Tuesday.
