Foreign universities setting up their campuses in India will offer healthy competition to leading private universities in the country, according to several Vice Chancellors, even as they maintained that the "devil lies in the details." The University Grants Commission (UGC) last week unveiled draft norms for allowing, for the first time, foreign universities to set up campuses in India with autonomy to decide the admission procedure, fees structure, and even repatriate funds back home. According to Dr Aman Mittal, Vice President, Lovely Professional University, Punjab, the foreign universities setting up their campuses in India will offer healthy competition to top private universities here. While reviewing the teacher recruitment process in educational institutions in the state, Adityanath also gave necessary guidelines regarding the formation of 'Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission' as an integrated commission, according to an official statement. Different authorities, boards and commissions operate for the selection of qualified teachers in basic, secondary, higher and technical educational institutions of the state, the statement said. Afghan Americans protest against Taliban ban on women's education

Protesting against the recent ban on women's education in Afghanistan, a large number of Afghan Americans have pledged to fight against this atrocious policy of the Taliban government. "We are here to fight for girls' right to education," Rayan Yasini from California representing the Afghan Cultural Society said in front of the White House on Sunday as she was joined by a large number of Afghan Americans from across the country. Students across the country will be taught the "corrected" version of Indian history under the National Education Policy (NEP) from Vasant Panchami on January 26, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Tuesday.
