Punjab seeks Rs 2,500 cr industrial package to develop border districts

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema on Friday sought a border-area special industrial package of Rs 2,500 crore for the development of the state's border districts, besides the resolution of the Cash Credit Limit issue in line with recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission sub-committee. Arunachal Pradesh govt chalking out plan to empower all villages: CM

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has highlighted eight pillars of focus for the overall development of villages, which would also curb migration of rural folk to urban areas. The key areas include health, education, connectivity, electricity, livelihood, agriculture, sanitation and water supply. The state government is chalking out a broad plan to empower all villages in the coming years, an official release said, quoting Khandu. Only when our villages are empowered, the country will develop. Arunachal's identity is in our villages, the chief minister said on Wednesday. Expressing concern over migration of people from villages to urban towns and cities, Khandu said if this continues, the state's villages will disappear and so would the distinct cultural identity of Arunachal Pradesh. He also urged gram panchayat leaders to closely monitor schemes and programmes being implemented in their respective villages, and ensure quality of work and its timely completion.

Govt to raise Rs 2,500 crore for three road projects through capital market

The government will approach the capital market this month to raise around Rs 2,500 crore to fund three road projects, a senior official said on Monday. The money will be raised through Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs), the government official added. "We will be approaching the capital market this month to raise around Rs 2,500 crore for the three road projects," he told PTI on the condition of anonymity. Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) are instruments on the pattern of mutual funds, designed to pool money from investors and invest in assets that will provide cash flows over a period of time. Last year, the National Highway Authority of India's first infrastructure investment trust raised more than Rs 5,000 crore. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said detailed discussions on development goals for the state till 2026 were held during the 'Chintan Shivir' for ministers and top government officials. Sisodia okays road redevelopment projects worth Rs 29.77 cr for west Delhi

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has approved road redevelopment projects worth Rs 29.77 crore for the city's western part, according to a statement. Nine west Delhi roads, including Najafgarh Road, Punjab Garden Road, Ginni Devi Road, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Marg, Pankaj Batra Marg and Lal Sai Mandir Marg, will be strengthened and given a new look under the project. Rs 3,000 cr earmarked in budget for Kalyana Karnataka region, says Bommai

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said funds worth Rs 3,000 crore set aside in the budget for the historically-backward Kalyana Karnataka region would help in the development of this part of the state. Speaking after hoisting the flag on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Kalyana Karnataka region, Bommai said the state government is encouraging industries to set up their units in the region.
