Delhi to have single district property registration facility: Officials

Delhi could be soon declared a single district for the purpose of registration of properties, a move that will allow people to get their property registered from any sub-registrar office in the city and help in curbing corruption and harassment at these offices, officials said on Thursday. The city is also going to have the country's first Online Complaint Information Management System (OCIMS), which would enable Delhiites to lodge complaints of corruption electronically, they said. Once the online system is ready, no physical complaints will be accepted, they added. Further, the revenue department will soon start issuing no-objection certificates (NOCs) for land plots online, thereby eliminating any human interface, officials said. ED files second supplementary charge sheet in Delhi Excise scam case

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday filed a supplementary charge sheet before a court here in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. Special Judge Vikas Dhull put up the charge sheet before the judge concerned for consideration on April 14. This is ED's second supplementary Prosecution Complaint, the agency's equivalent of a charge sheet. Min temp in Delhi settles below season's average at 15.9 degrees C

The minimum temperature in the national capital on Wednesday settled at 15.9 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, according to an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin. With mainly clear skies, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 69 per cent, the bulletin added. As per the data from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 11 am stood in the moderate category at 126. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor" and 401 and 500 "severe". According to a bulletin by the ministry of earth sciences, air quality is likely to remain in the moderate category from April 6 to April 8.

Delhi government extends power subsidy scheme for another year: Minister

Delhi cabinet in its meeting on Tuesday approved extending the power subsidy scheme for next one year, despite "conspiracies" to stop it, Power minister Atishi said in a press conference. The people of Delhi will continue to get free electricity on monthly consumption of 200 units. Those using 201-400 units will get a 50 per cent subsidy. Applications received for power subsidy from October till now will be considered valid till April 2024, said the minister. "The decision comes despite efforts by the BJP and the Lieutenant Governor to stop the scheme," said the minister, who had earlier claimed that attempts were being made to stop free electricity provided by the Kejriwal government to the farmers and lawyers. In the wake of her allegations, the BJP had accused her of lying that farmers were getting free power supply and claimed they were receiving bills of thousands of rupees due to fixed charges. 521 Covid cases in Delhi, highest since Aug, 2022, positivity rate 15.64%

Delhi recorded 521 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, the highest single-day rise since August 27 last year, and a fatality, according to data shared by the city health department. The positivity rate stood at 15.64 per cent. The health bulletin also mentioned that the primary cause of the death was not coronavirus and its finding was incidental. Delhi Cabinet decides to buy mechanical sweepers, water sprinkling machines

The Delhi Cabinet decided on Tuesday to procure mechanical sweepers and water sprinkling machines to control dust pollution and to extend its power subsidy scheme for one year. The Cabinet, in a meeting, also decided to provide artificial limbs and other aides to physically disabled persons through a government agency. It approved the extension of term insurance and mediclaim under the Chief Minister Advocate Welfare Scheme, Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a press conference. It approved a proposal of the Environment department for purchasing 70 mechanical sweeping machines to remove dust on bigger roads maintained by the Public Works Department (PWD). It also decided to purchase 250 water sprinkling machines fitted with anti-smog guns, Bharadwaj said. A sum of Rs 2,388 crore will be spent on this in the next seven to 10 years and in the first year, the expenditure will be Rs 257 crore, he said. EVs account for 15% of vehicles sold in Delhi in March: Transport dept data

Electric vehicles accounted for nearly 15 per cent of all vehicles sold in Delhi in March, according to the data of the transport department. It also stated that 7,926 electric vehicles (EVs) were sold in March, out of which four wheelers contributed to 20 per cent of the sale and three wheelers contributed 12 per cent. A total of 53,620 vehicles were registered in the city last month. The department noted that 1.12 lakh EVs have been sold under the Delhi Electric Vehicles Policy that was implemented by the AAP government in 2020. 293 Covid cases recorded in Delhi, 2 deaths; positivity rate at 18.53%

Delhi recorded 293 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, with the positivity rate rising to 18.53 per cent which meant nearly one out of every five people tested turned out to be positive, according to data shared by the city health department. With MCD panel not elected, services of 3 'third parties' discontinued

As the standing committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is yet to be elected, services of three 'third parties' have been discontinued by the civic body from April 1 onwards, and they have been directed to withdraw data entry operators and other contractual workers engaged through them, official sources said on Monday. Delhi LG V K Saxena has approved the operation of 55 more e-commerce and retail outlets round-the-clock in the national capital, months after he gave a nod to over 300 establishments to operate 24x7, Raj Niwas officials said on Monday. The proposal, given by the Labour Department and endorsed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was made to exempt another 55 establishments from Sections 14, 15 and 16 of the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954.
