Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 6.1 degrees Celsius, three notches below the normal, the India Meteorological Department said on Saturday. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to settle at around 22 degrees Celsius. The weatherman has forecast mainly clear skies during the day and becoming partly cloudy towards evening or night. The humidity was recorded at 89 per cent at 8:30 am. The city's air quality index (AQI) stood at 224 at 9 am, which was in the poor category, officials said. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.

Farmers from various states including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand took part in the Kishan Mahapanchayat on the call of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha. The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights will launch a WhatsApp chatbot to interact with people and help them register their complaints. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will launch the chatbot on February 1. An official said, "The chatbot will help citizens and the commission to interact in a more effective manner. Some of its cases include complaint registration, searching information and tracking complaint status. "It will be used by the commission for nudge-based awareness communications to children, women and Anganwadi workers, etc." The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights is the apex statutory authority of Delhi government to protect, promote and monitor the implementation of rights and policies related to children such as education, immunisation, protection against abuse and nutrition.

A Delhi court on Monday extended by two weeks the judicial custody of five people accused in the hit-and-run case in which a 20-year-old woman was dragged to death while trapped under a car in the national capital. The court extended the judicial custody of Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mithun and Manoj Mittal till February 6. They were produced before the court on the expiry of their judicial custody granted earlier. Two accused Ankush and Ashutosh were recently granted bail in the case. Anjali Singh (20) was killed in the early hours of the New Year after her scooter was hit by a car, which dragged her for 12 kilometres from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala. The Delhi Police recently added section 302 (murder) of the IPC in the case. Initially, the case was registered under IPC sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 (attempt to murder) of IPC.

The Delhi Police has prepared a draft of 3,000 page-chargesheet containing a list of 100 witnesses in the grisly Shraddha Walkar murder case, sources said on Sunday. The draft chargesheet, likely to be filed soon, has been sent for legal opinion, they said. The chargesheet contains a list of forensic evidence that the police have collected apart from the DNA reports that established the identity of the victim. Walkar, 27, was allegedly strangled, her body chopped into 35 pieces and disposed of in various parts of Delhi by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala. "The DNA reports had confirmed that it was indeed Shraddha Walkar who was killed. We collected samples from her father and brother after the incident came to light," a source said. The investigating officer had said the statements that Poonawala gave during his polygraph and narco-analysis tests and the police interrogation were the same.
