Delhi Police's Crime Branch team has arrested a driver working in the Ministry of External Affairs on charges of espionage for allegedly leaking confidential details to a Pakistan-based person, sources said on Friday. According to a source, the arrest was made on Friday from the Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan here. The suspect allegedly used to pass confidential and sensitive information related to national security to a person based in Pakistan. The source said the driver was honey trapped by an ISI person who pretended to be a woman when he spoke with him. Police, however, refused to share any details of the case citing concerns over national security.

Mehrauli murder: Delhi Police to produce accused before court virtually

A Delhi court on Thursday allowed police's application to produce Mehrauli killing accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala before a court through video conferencing. Metropolitan Magistrate Aviral Shukla said according to the application submitted by police, the accused faced threat from miscreants and religious groups. "I am aware of the sensitivity of the matter, media coverage...Public traction...," the judge said while allowing the application. Poonawala will be produced before the court through video conferencing at 4 pm. Delhi Police has sought narco test of Aaftab Amin Poonawala, accused of killing his live-in partner and dumping her body parts in a forest area in south Delhi's Chhatarpur, a senior official said on Wednesday. Police are yet to get permission from the court, the official added. Police have recovered 13 body parts, believed to be of the woman, from different areas which will be sent for DNA analysis. The investigating team is also likely to approach dating app Bumble through which the duo met. Police have registered two separate FIRs in connection with a scuffle that broke out between two groups of students on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus, officials said on Friday. Police had said that two students were injured in Thursday's clash, while university sources claimed only one student suffered injuries. The scuffle near the Narmada Hostel was a fallout of events that unfolded at a birthday party on Wednesday, the sources said earlier. Delhi Police begins 3-day training on cyber crime with French embassy

The Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit is conducting a three-day joint training session on investigation techniques to combat cyber crime in coordination with I4C and the French embassy, a statement said on Tuesday. The session will be conducted by three cyber experts from the French cyber crime investigation team with two support staff from the French embassy and three cyber expert officers from India, it said. IFSO is a specialised unit that handles all complex and sensitive cases of cyber-crime. The Cyber Crime Unit is equipped with a state-ofthe-art Cyber Lab with cyber forensic capabilities, it said. Apart from this, IFSO also engages in mass awareness and various regular cyber training programmes in coordination with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, or I4C, under MHA being the nodal agency, the statement said. The Supreme Court on Friday directed that all FIRs against expelled BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal lodged across the country in connection with his alleged derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad be transferred to Delhi Police. A bench of Justices MR Shah and MM Sundresh also extended interim protection to Jindal till the probe is concluded by Delhi police. The top court allowed Jindal to move Delhi High Court for quashing of FIRs lodged over his alleged remarks and said all future FIRs would also be transferred to Delhi Police for investigation. "All FIRs to be transferred to Delhi Police IFSO Unit. No precipitative action or further FIRs against the accused for eight weeks so he can pursue his appropriate remedy before the Delhi High Court," the bench said. The Editors Guild of India on Wednesday said it was extremely disturbed by the manner in which the Delhi Police carried out searches and seizures at the homes of the editors of The Wire as well as their office and the newsroom. "The haste with which the police searches were carried out at multiple locations, is excessive and disproportionate, and in the manner of a fishing and roving enquiry," the Guild said in a statement here. Media associations on Tuesday condemned searches carried out by the Delhi Police at the offices of news portal The Wire and the houses of its editors on the basis of a complaint filed by BJP leader Amit Malviya. In a joint statement, seven media bodies including Press Association, Press Club of India and Digipub News India Foundation said the manner in which the Delhi Police has acted on the complaint of a BJP spokesperson "smacks of sheer vendetta". "It is surprising that even after the news portal issued a detailed retraction for its editorial lapses, putting out the same in the public domain, the Delhi Police, based on the complaint of the BJP leader which includes a bevy of charges including criminal clauses under the IPC, registered an FIR and chose to proceed (with) investigating the matter with uncharacteristic promptness," the statement said. Delhi Police issues traffic advisory for Monday to facilitate Run for Unity

The India Gate C-Hexagon will remain closed from 6.45 am-9 am on Monday to facilitate 'Run for Unity', which is being held in commemoration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary, the Delhi Police has said. The run, held as part of the Rashtriya Ekta Divas, will be flagged off from Gate Number 1 of Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. DU directs colleges not to host any event without police permission

University of Delhi (DU) on Friday issued guidelines to its colleges, asking them not to host any event without proper police permission and allow no one without registration. This development comes days after a ruckus rocked a fest in DU's Miranda House On October 14, several men were seen climbing the college walls and gates to witness an open Diwali fest on the campus and indulged in "cat-calling and sexist sloganeering". Chinese woman held for involvement in anti-India activities: Delhi Police

The Delhi Police has arrested a Chinese woman for staying in India under a false identify and allegedly indulging in "anti-national activities", officials said on Thursday. The woman has been identified as Cai Ruo and is a native of Hainan province in China, they said on Thursday. She was residing in India as a Nepalese citizen and was detained from Majnu ka Tila in north Delhi, police said. During verification, a Nepalese citizenship certificate in the name of Dolma Lama was recovered from her. However, when inquired with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, it was found that she is a Chinese citizen and had travelled to India in 2019, they said. On the basis of information that Ruo is involved in "anti-national activities" and presently residing in India as Nepalese citizen, she was detained from Majnu Ka Tila, a Delhi Police statement said. Delhi Police intensifies patrolling in national capital ahead of Diwali

Ahead of Diwali, the Delhi Police has intensified patrolling, enhanced its presence and are carrying out anti-sabotage checks in heavy footfall areas of the capital, including markets and malls, officials said on Thursday. Flag marches and foot patrolling were conducted in the crowded market of Sarojini Nagar which usually witnesses heavy footfall during the festive season, they said. Former AAP minister Rajendra Pal Gautam was questioned for three hours on Tuesday over a complaint against him for attending a religious conversion where Hindu deities were allegedly denounced, officials said.
