Delhi Police questions Flipkart officials for selling acid despite SC ban

Delhi Police has questioned the officials of e-commerce firm Flipkart for allegedly selling acid on its platform despite a ban on the substance by the Supreme Court. Police on December 15 issued a notice to Flipkart after the prime accused in an acid attack on a girl in Dwarka, Delhi said he bought the substance from the e-commerce website. According to the police, the officials were questioned on Wednesday and they are not satisfied with the reply of the firm. The company had responded to the notice, saying that the acid was sold by an Agra-based firm. Police said whether they will be questioned again will be decided later. Delhi police destroys 2,800 kg drugs worth Rs 1,500 cr seized in 8 years

The Delhi Police on Wednesday destroyed over 2,800 kgs of drugs worth Rs 1,513.05 crore seized under a campaign in the last eight years, officials said. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and members of the disposal committees were present when the drugs were destroyed in an incinerator in Delhi's Nilothi, they said. The police said effective action is being taken against traffickers under the Centre's 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' to eradicate the drug menace from Delhi-NCR. According to an official statement, Saxena expressed satisfaction over the efforts being undertaken by Delhi Police to curb the drug menace in the capital. The Drug Disposal Committees (DDC) of Delhi Police's Crime Branch and Special Cell shortlisted the seized drugs which were no longer required for any legal proceedings and approval of the competent court was obtained for their destruction, the statement said. G20: DUSIB, Delhi Police officials meet to plan relocation of beggars

A meeting was held on Saturday by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) to chalk out a plan to remove and relocate beggars from the Hanuman Mandir area near the Kashmere Gate ISBT to night shelters, officials said. In view of the upcoming G20 Summit, the Delhi government issued directions on Thursday to remove and relocate the beggars from the Hanuman Mandir area. The meeting was held with the social welfare department as well as Delhi Police to discuss the rescue drive of the beggars. DUSIB member Bipin Rai said facilities that are provided at the government shelter homes, will also be provided to the beggars once they are relocated. "First, we will map the beggars and hold surveys to understand how many of them are there near the Kashmere Gate ISBT. CBI, Delhi Police help FBI in busting multimillion-dollar tech support scam

The Delhi Police and Central Bureau of Investigations have helped the FBI in busting a major trans-national scam that duped thousands of Americans, mostly senior citizens, of millions of dollars in about 10 years on the pretext of providing them with tech-support, a US attorney has said. Harshad Madaan, 34, from New Delhi and Vikash Gupta, 33, from Faridabad, were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Delhi Police this week. The third Indian Gagan Lamba, 41, from New Delhi remains at large. Gagan's brother Jatin Lamba is also in police custody. All are charged by indictment with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to commit computer fraud, and substantive violations of wire fraud and computer fraud. Acid for west Delhi attack bought online; police issues notice to Flipkart

Delhi Police has issued a notice to Flipkart after it found that the acid used to attack the 17-year-old girl in west Delhi a day before was procured from the e-commerce firm, officials said on Thursday. An immediate response was not available from Flipkart. Two masked men on a bike flung acid on the teen minutes after she left her home for school on Wednesday, leaving her with serious injuries. The Delhi Police on Monday received an email regarding a bomb being placed on a school campus here in south Delhi, officials said. A senior police officer said that the email was received on Monday regarding the bomb placed in Indian Public School, Sadiq Nagar.
