5 dead, 12 injured as bus plunges into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri

Five persons were killed and 12 others injured when the bus they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, officials said on Thursday. The bus, which was on its way to Jammu from Surankote Poonch, skidded off the road and plunged into the gorge at Deri Ralyot in Manjakote area, they said. Security forces and local residents have launched a rescue operation, they added. The accident comes a day after 11 people were killed and 28 others injured in another accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

Delhi records 142 new Covid-19 cases, no death; positivity rate at 1.29%

Delhi recorded 142 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 1.29 per cent on Wednesday, according to the data shared by the city health department. The national capital recorded no death due to the viral disease for the second consecutive day. The new cases were detected from the 10,986 tests conducted the previous day, the department said in its latest bulletin. With the new cases, Delhi's COVID-19 tally climbed to 20,02,089. Maharashtra sees 881 Covid-19 cases, five deaths; active tally at 5,426

Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 881 coronavirus cases and five fatalities, the health department said in a bulletin. With the fresh additions, the state's COVID-19 tally rose to 81,12,857 and the death toll to 1,48,298. A day earlier, the state recorded 730 infections and four fatalities. Mumbai recorded 203 fresh coronavirus cases. Of the five fatalities, two each were recorded in Mumbai and Thane city, while one death was reported from the Raigad district, it said. Maharashtra's case fatality rate stands at 1.82 per cent. The state is left with 5,426 active cases after 963 patients recovered from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recoveries to 79,59,133, the department said. Maharashtra reports 701 new Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths in 24 hours

Maharashtra on Sunday recorded 701 new cases of coronavirus and three deaths due to the infection, a state health department official said. With this, the tally of infections in the state has risen to 81,10,832 and the toll reached 1,48,288, he said. Mumbai circle accounted for 365 cases, followed by 182 in the Pune circle, Kolhapur 36, Nagpur 32, Latur 30, Nashik 25, Akola 20 and Aurangabad 11, the official said. Mumbai records 187 new Covid-19 cases, 1 death, 375 recoveries in a day

Mumbai on Sunday recorded 187 COVID-19 cases and one death, which took the tally in the metropolis to 11,47,978 and the toll to 19,718, a civic official said. The recovery count increased by 375 to touch 11,26,549, leaving the city with 1,711 active cases, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official said. Of the new cases, only 13 are symptomatic, taking the total number of such patients to 216, he added. BMC data showed the recovery rate was 98.1 per cent and the growth rate of cases between September 4 and September 10 stood at 0.024 per cent. The overall number of coronavirus tests carried out in the city was 1,81,75,335, including 4,801 in the last 24 hours, as per official data. The caseload doubling time was 2,962 days, it added.

Mumbai on Saturday reported 394 COVID-19 cases and two deaths, which took the metropolis' tally to 11,45,891 and the toll to 19,707, a civic official said. Maharashtra sees 1,272 Covid cases, 4 deaths, 1,771 recoveries in 24 hours

Maharashtra on Saturday reported 1,272 COVID-19 cases and four deaths, which took the state's tally to 81,03,649 and the toll to 1,48,261, an official said. This was a slight rise from the 1,258 cases reported on Friday, which also saw six deaths, he pointed out. Of the new cases, 713 were from Mumbai circle, followed by Pune circle (328) Kolhapur (64), Nagpur circle (59), Nashik circle (47), Latur circle (39), Akola circle (13) and Aurangabad circle (9), he said.
