Data story: India logs 6,799 new Covid cases; active tally at 55,114

India on September 4 reported a decrease of 1,641 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 55,114. The country is thirty-second among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On September 4, it added 6,799 cases to take its total caseload to 44,456,535. And, with 26 new fatalities, including five more reconciled by Kerala, its Covid-19 death toll reached 527,991, or 1.19 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 

With 1,935,814 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on September 3, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 2,132,043,050. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 43,873,430 — or 98.69 per cent of the total caseload — with 8,414 new cured cases being reported on September 4.
