Tripura govt to push for establishment of tea auction centre in state: CM

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said his government will try its best to push for establishing a tea auction centre in the state to provide better marketing facility for the tea planters. Currently, Tripura tea planters send their finished tea to either Guwahati or Kolkata auction centre to sell their product pushing the cost of tea. "The government will try its best to set up a tea auction centre in the state so that tea planters can sell their products here. Once implemented this will bring down the transportation cost of finished product", he said after inaugurating Tripura's first gas-based tea processing unit in West Tripura district's Durgabari Tea Estate. Saha said the northeastern state produces 9-10 lakh kg tea annually which is 10 per cent of the county's total tea production. Tripura is the fifth state in terms of tea production in the country. Raja Singh and his family members who reached Amarnath by a chopper decided to use ponies to descend the hills before as the weather condition began deteriorating on Friday. We sensed that weather suddenly changed and getting deteriorated. In those circumstances chopper service would also be cancelled. So we decided to descend the hills using ponies. Assam cabinet reshuffle tomorrow, 2 BJP MLAs to take oath as ministers

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday indicated the expansion of his cabinet as he said that two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs will take oath as ministers tomorrow."The oath-taking ceremony will be held at Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium in Guwahati on Thursday at around 3 pm. Two MLAs from BJP will take oath as ministers," the Assam Chief Minister said.Earlier the Assam Chief Minister said that one MLA from the hill districts will be inducted into the Assam cabinet.This will be the first cabinet reshuffle of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led cabinet. Sarma was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam on May 10 last year.Earlier on Tuesday, the Assam Chief Minister chaired a meeting in Guwahati with senior officials and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sonitpur to discuss the upcoming 'DCs' Conference'.The meeting was conducted through an online conference with the aim to review the preparations for the meeting.
