Two-wheeler maker Suzuki Motorcycle sales jump 49% to 97,584 units in March

Two-wheeler maker Suzuki Motorcycle India has posted a 49 per cent jump in its vehicle sales at 97,584 units in March over the same month of 2022, the company said on Sunday. The company sold 73,069 units in the domestic market and exported 24,515 units in the previous month, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SIMPL) said in the statement. SMIPL sold a total of 65,495 vehicles in March 2022. For the full fiscal 2022-23, the total sales were up 24.3 per cent at 9,38,371 units from 754,938 units retailed in the financial year that ended March 31, 2022, the company said. "Suzuki Motorcycle India was able to attain a remarkable sales achievement in March by registering the highest ever monthly sales of 97,584 units. Automaker Kia India sales fall by 5% to 21,501 units in March 2023

Automaker Kia India on Saturday said its sales wholesales declined by 5 per cent to 21,501 units last month, as compared to 22,622 units in March 2022. The company dispatched 8,677 units of Sonet, 6,554 units of Seltos, and 6,102 units of Carnival last month to dealers. For the 2022-23 fiscal, the automaker sold 2,69,229 units, a growth of 44 per cent over 1,86,787 units in 2021-22. "Our focus on offering futuristic design, combined with cutting-edge technology, has helped us in winning the Indian market and new-age customers alike. "With additional features and improvements in engine and transmission combinations in RDE-compliant vehicles, we are confident that we will continue our winning spree," Kia India VP and Head of Sales & Marketing Hardeep Singh Brar said in a statement.

Overall passenger vehicle dispatches cross 335,000 units in February

Driven by strong demand, the overall passenger vehicle dispatches crossed 3.35 lakh units in February as automakers, including Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, reported robust sales during the month. The dispatches of more than 3.35 lakh units last month marked an 11 per cent over February 2022. It was also the highest ever overall wholesales in the month of February. The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said its domestic wholesales rose 11 per cent to 1,55,114 units in February as compared with 1,40,035 units in the same month last year. The sales of mini segment cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, grew to 21,875 units as against 19,691 units in February 2022. According to the automaker, the sales of compact cars, including Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR, rose to 79,898 units in February as compared with 77,795 units in the year-ago month. Hyundai Motor India's rural sales cross 100,000-mark in 2022

Hyundai Motor India on Friday said its sales in the rural areas crossed one lakh-mark last year. The company said it has deployed its 100th Mobile Service Van (MSV) in Siliguri (West Bengal) to further strengthen its commitment to the rural markets. Hyundai Motor India Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said there was a growth of 17 per cent in the rural sales last year as compared to 2019. "We are confident that the company's growing rural network of over 600 outlets will act as a catalyst in enhancing customer peace of mind," he added. As upcountry customers demand more attention and care, the automaker has increased its rural manpower to over 5,000 in 2022, Garg said. Hyundai had commenced doorstep car care initiative with its first mobile service van in Meerut (Uttar Pradesh).

BMW and MINI sell 19,263 units, register growth of 35% in India last year

German automotive group BMW on Tuesday reported record sales of its luxury cars and motorcycles in India at 19,263 units in 2022. Customer deliveries of cars of both brands BMW and MINI registered a growth of 35 per cent at 11,981 units last year, which was the highest-ever, BMW Group India said in a statement. BMW India registered sales of 11,268 units at a growth of 37 per cent and MINI India of 713 units, up 11 per cent from 2021, it added. Sports Activity Vehicle range, including the X1, X3, X5 and X7 grew at over 60 per cent, while luxury sedans such as the 3 Series, 5 Series and 6 Series continued their strong run, the company said. "Due to a high demand, most BMW models now have a waiting period of up to six months," it added. For the MINI brand, locally produced 'Countryman' had a share of 41 per cent in sales while the 'Hatch' contributed 38 per cent and 'Convertible' 21 per cent. Kia India records 94.7% rise in domestic sales at 15,184 units in Dec

Automaker Kia India on Monday reported a 94.7 per cent increase in domestic sales at 15,184 units in December. The company had sold 7,797 units in the year-ago period. In the calendar year 2022, the company said it witnessed a growth of 47.7 per cent with cumulative sales of 3,36,619 units. Its sales in 2021 stood at 2,27,844 units. Domestic sales also grew by 40.1 per cent to 2,54,556 units as against 1,81,583 units in 2021, while exports stood at 82,063 units in 2022. "Despite various headwinds like geopolitical issues, Covid-induced supply chain obstructions and price increase, we managed to register the highest sales ever for the brand in the country," Kia India VP and Head - Sales & Marketing Hardeep Singh Brar said in a statement. Kia India said its cumulative sales have crossed the 8-lakh milestone in 41 months since starting mass production in August 2019.

Maruti Suzuki's production falls 18% to 124,722 units in December

Maruti Suzuki India's production in December 2022 was lower by 17.96 per cent at 1,24,722 units, according to a regulatory filing by the company. The company had a total production of 1,52,029 units in the same month a year ago. Production in mini cars and compact segment, comprising models such as Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR, was lower at 83,753 units last month as compared to 1,06,090 units in December 2021. Production of utility vehicles, including Brezza, Ertiga, Jimny, S-Cross and XL6, was also lower at 27,303 units as compared to 31,794 units in the year-ago month, the filing added. VE Commercial Vehicles total sales rise 17.3% to 7,221 units in Dec

VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd on Monday reported a 17.3 per cent growth in total sales at 7,221 units in December 2022. The company, a joint venture of the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, had sold 6,154 units in December 2021, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) said in a statement. December 2022 sales included 7,003 units of Eicher brand and 218 units of Volvo brand, it added. In the domestic commercial vehicles market, Eicher branded trucks and buses recorded sales of 6,671 units last month as compared to 5,192 units in December 2021, a growth of 28.5 per cent. Exports of Eicher branded trucks and buses, however, declined 59 per cent at 332 units, as compared to 810 units in December 2021, it added.

Hero MotoCorp total sales fall marginally to 394,179 units in Dec

Two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Monday reported a marginal decline in total sales at 3,94,179 units for December 2022. The company had sold 3,94,773 units in the same month a year ago, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement. Domestic sales were higher by 1.83 per cent at 3,81,365 units as against 3,74,485 units in December 2021. Exports were, however, lower at 12,814 units as compared to 20,288 units in the year-ago month, the company said. Total motorcycle sales in December 2022 stood at 3,56,749 units as against 3,76,862 units in the same month a year ago. On the other hand, scooter sales were higher at 37,430 units as compared to 17,911 units in December 2021. In the three quarters of financial year 2022-23, the company said it sold more than 40.58 lakh units, a rise of 8 per cent as compared to the year-ago period.
