Mahindra & Mahindra reports 5% decline in wholesales in October

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Monday reported a 5 per cent year-on-year decline in total wholesales at 41,908 units in October. The company had dispatched a total of 44,359 units in October 2020. Last month, the company's passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 20,130 units, up 8 per cent from 18,622 units in the year-ago period. Domestic commercial vehicle sales fell to 18,604 units last month from 23,716 units in October 2020. Exports rose to 3,174 units last month, up 57 per cent from 2,021 units in October 2020. Demand for vehicles across our product portfolio remains robust. We have received an unprecedented response for XUV700 and as per our commitment, we have commenced deliveries of the petrol variant to customers," Mahindra & Mahindra CEO Automotive Division Veejay Nakra said in a statement. The supply chain issues around semiconductor related parts continues to be dynamic as the company focuses on managing the situation in the short term, he added.

Tata Motors unveils 21 commercial vehicles for cargo, passenger verticals

Tata Motors on Thursday unveiled 21 new commercial vehicles, including trucks and buses, to cater to evolving needs of cargo and people transport across segments. The company has unveiled seven products in the medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) segment and five products in the intermediate and light commercial segment (4-18 tonne GVW) with CNG powertrains. Besides, the auto major has unveiled four new LCVs (Light Commercial Vehicles) to improve last-mile delivery efficiency and reduce operational cost. It includes Ace with a petrol engine and Winger Cargo for the growing needs of e-commerce distribution. Tata motors also unveiled five passenger commercial vehicles including buses for intra-city transportation requirements. Toyota Kirloskar drives in Innova Crysta Limited Edition at Rs 17.18 lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Tuesday said it has launched Innova Crysta Limited Edition, priced between Rs 17.18 lakh and Rs 20.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol trims are priced between Rs 17.18 lakh and Rs 18.59 lakh while the diesel variants are tagged between Rs 18.99 lakh and Rs 20.35 lakh. The limited edition comes with various features like multi terrain monitor, head up display, tyre pressure monitoring system, wireless charger, door edge lighting and air ionizer. Mahindra Thar clocks cumulative bookings of 75k units in one year of launch

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Monday said its SUV Thar has crossed 75,000 cumulative bookings mark in one year of its launch in the country. The all-new Thar continued its relentless march to automotive folklore and clocked 75,000 bookings just a year after its launch on Mahindra Group's 75th Anniversary on October 2, 2020, the automaker said in a statement. It has breached the traditional boundaries set by off-roaders and invaded into the dreams of metro-based young, urban buyers who are looking for an authentic yet sophisticated SUV experience, it added. The company noted that 40 per cent of the bookings of the model have come from millennials. Tata Motors unveils sub-compact SUV Punch; launch later this month

Tata Motors on Monday expanded its product range in the country with the unveiling of its sub-compact SUV Punch. The company plans to launch the model on October 20, and has commenced bookings on its website and sales network across the country for Rs 21,000. The Punch, which would sit below Nexon in the company's product line up, comes with a 1.2 litre petrol engine mated to both manual and automatic transmissions. The model comes with SUV attributes like tall seating, high ground clearance, 370 mm water wading capability and traction feature to aid recovery in off road situations. Semiconductor shortage pulls down India's PV dispatches in Sept

The global semiconductor shortage hit passenger vehicle sales in September, with major manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Mahindra & Mahindra reporting a decline in sales on Friday. Kia India and Honda Cars also reported a dip in wholesales last month as compared with the year-ago period. Carmakers like Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Nissan and Skoda, however, reported an increase in passenger vehicle dispatches last month despite supply chain issues. The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said its domestic sales slipped 54.9 per cent to 68,815 units last month as against 1,52,608 units in September 2020. "Sales volume of the company in September 2021 was adversely impacted due to shortage of electronic components.
