BJP tears into AAP over Delhi excise policy, calls it a conspiracy

Hitting out at the AAP government over the now-scrapped excise policy, the BJP on Tuesday said it will raise awareness on the "conspiracy" that was hatched to "toy" with the future of youths in Delhi by allowing "proliferation" of liquor vends. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, the party's national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said the "proponents of new politics" didn't even refrain from taking steps that would have drowned Delhi youths in a state of inebriation. He said the party has decided to raise awareness on the issue, as "for us, it is not just a issue of corruption", but is also about the "future of youths in Delhi". Trivedi tore into Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was arrested by the CBI on Sunday evening in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped liquor policy for 2021-22. Arrest of Sisodia who heads most key depts puts Kejriwal govt in a spot

The Arvind Kejriwal government is staring at a possible crisis with the CBI arresting Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who holds as many as 18 of the total 33 departments, including education, finance and home. The arrest of Sisodia comes after that of Satyendar Jain, Delhi's the then health minister, in June last year. Both have led what the Aam Aadmi Party describes as the successful transformation of Delhi's education and health services, contributing to the party's popularity and continued electoral success. Their absence leaves Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with no heavyweight lieutenant to implement his governance agenda in Delhi. The immediate challenge for Kejriwal is to present the Delhi government budget as scheduled and find Sisodia's replacement. Sources in the Aam Aadmi Party said Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot may present the Delhi government budget for the next financial year. "As there was a possibility that the deputy chief minister may be arrested by the CB

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday assured farmers in Gujarat's Bhavnagar that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) governments in Punjab and Delhi will buy their onions by sending a train so that they do not have to face losses amid the prevailing situation wherein this kitchen staple is fetching low prices from traders.
