Energy stocks rise
Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 102.76 points or 1.24% at 8411.73 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 4.99%), Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 4.2%),Reliance Industries Ltd (up 2.85%),Jindal Drilling & Industries Ltd (up 2.41%),Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 2.41%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Castrol India Ltd (up 2.24%), Oil India Ltd (up 2.1%), Goa Carbon Ltd (up 2.08%), Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 2.01%), and Deep Industries Ltd (up 1.55%).
On the other hand, Adani Total Gas Ltd (down 0.72%), and Indraprastha Gas Ltd (down 0.28%) turned lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 576.41 or 1.03% at 56394.52.
The Nifty 50 index was up 136.25 points or 0.82% at 16764.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 192.59 points or 0.72% at 26887.37.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 34.16 points or 0.42% at 8237.96.
On BSE,2044 shares were trading in green, 700 were trading in red and 114 were unchanged.
