Delhi Police Special Cell has busted three inter-state arms supply cartels by apprehending four inter-state arms and ammunition traffickers from Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and one arms supplier from Madhya Pradesh. A large number of pistols were recovered. The team of Anti-Auto Theft Squad, East District has busted one inter-state auto lifter gang involved in more than 300 cases of vehicle theft. Five people were arrested, and 17 stolen high-end luxury cars were recovered. A theft racket operating in the cargo area of Delhi's IGI airport has also been busted with the arrest of three people and recovery of 12 high-end mobile phones, informed Delhi Police.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered an inquiry after a passenger who was supposed to take an Indigo flight to Patna instead boarded another flight of the airline and landed at Udaipur - about 1400km away from his destination. The incident was reported on January 30 (Monday), and the passenger was sent to his destination next day. A senior DGCA official said that the passenger, identified as Afsar Hussain, booked a ticket for Patna via Indigo flight 6E-214 and reached Delhi airport on January 30 to board the scheduled flight. But he mistakenly boarded Udaipur-bound flight 6E-319 of Indigo.

The government will take 33 per cent equity in Vodafone Idea after converting all interest related to payments for spectrum and other dues into equity, making it the single-largest shareholder in the telecom firm. Vodafone Idea will convert dues of Rs 16,133 crore into equity and issues shares for Rs 10 each, the company said a market filing. Vodafone Idea is a combination of the India unit of Britain's Vodafone Group and Idea Cellular. India's telecom sector was disrupted by the entry of billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio, which forced some rivals out of the market. Massive dues owed to the government compounded the telecom sector's troubles.
