Who is Basavaraj Somappa Bommai?

Basavaraj Somappa Bommai, born on January 28, 1960, in Hubballi, is the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka. The 61-year-old Lingayat leader, from North Karnataka, succeeded B S Yediyurappa and took the oath as the Karnataka CM on July 27, 2021.
 
A graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Basavaraj Bommai is the son of the former chief minister, late Somappa Rayappa Bommai. He is considered one of the close aides of Yediyurappa.

Basavaraj Bommai finished his primary education from Rotary English Medium School at Deshpande Nagar in Hubballi district, later he joined P C Jabina Science College and completed his mechanical engineering
