Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik who was on hunger strike in Tihar Jail for the last 10 days discontinued his fasting on Monday evening after he was informed that his demands have been conveyed

"On Friday morning, Malik refused to eat anything. He is still on a hunger strike and his health is being regularly monitored by doctors. He is being given IV fluids since Sunday," an official said.

Malik informed the court that he had written a letter to the government seeking his transfer to a Jammu jail so he could appear physically in the case and contest the allegations against him.

A day after a Delhi court awarded life imprisonment to Yasin Malik in a terror funding case, Tihar prison authorities here on Thursday said the separatist leader has been kept in a separate cell under heavy security. "For security reasons, Mailk may not be assigned any work in jail. He has been kept in a separate cell in jail number seven under heavy security. His security will be regularly monitored and reviewed from time to time," a senior jail official said. Mailk will also not be entitled to any parole or furlough since he is a convict in a case of terror funding, jail officials said. Even before being awarded life imprisonment, Malik was kept in the separate cell where he stayed alone in jail number seven, they said. Malik, the chief of banned JKLF, was on May 19 convicted by a Delhi court under the stringent anti-terror law in a case related to funding of terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir

These funds were used to create unrest where under the guise of public protests, paid terror activities of stone-pelting and arson on a mass scale were committed, the court said in the order.
