Two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Saturday reported a 15 per cent rise in total sales at 5,19,342 units for March 2023 as compared to 4,50,154 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales last month were at 5,02,730 units as against 4,15,764 units in March 2022, a growth of 21 per cent, Hero MotoCorp said in a statement. Exports were, however, lower at 16,612 units as against 34,390 units in the year-ago month. In 2022-23, the company sold 53,28,546 units as against 49,44,150 units in 2021-22, up 8 per cent. Domestic sales in FY23 stood at 51,55,793 units as compared to 46,43,526 units in FY22, a growth of 11 per cent. Exports were lower at 1,72,753 units as compared to 3,00,624 units in FY22, the company said.

The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp plans to expand its electric two-wheeler range over the next 18-24 months as it looks to cater to demand across multiple customer segments, according to a senior company official. The company, which has already commenced sales of its electric scooter under Vida brand across Delhi, Bengaluru and Jaipur, plans to introduce the existing range in other cities as well in the next fiscal before it starts to roll out the new products. Hero MotoCorp Chairman Pawan Munjal has called for a reduction in GST on two-wheelers to 18 per cent from current 28 per cent, while lauding the Union Budget 2023-24 as the dawn of a new high-growth economy, ensuring India's increased contribution to the global economy. The veteran auto industry leader noted that the two-wheeler segment, which has been witnessing subdued sales over the last few years, needs government support in terms of taxation. Engineering company Greaves Cotton on Wednesday unveiled its range of electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler electric vehicles at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023. Reise Moto, a joint venture between Mahansaria Group and European brand Mitas, on Monday launched a two-wheeler tyre range for the domestic market. The tyre under the 'Reise' brand will cater to both motorcycle and scooter segments and will also be shipped to South Asian markets.
