TVS Motor Company on Tuesday said its Singapore-based arm will acquire a 25 per cent stake in Germany-based electric mobility products and components startup Killwatt GmbH. TVS Motor (Singapore) Pte Ltd, has agreed to acquire a 25 per cent stake in Killwatt GmbH by way of newly issued shares of the latter, amounting to 8,500 common equity shares, the company said in a regulatory filing. The shares are acquired at cash consideration of 235.29 euros per share, translating to a total of nearly 2 million euros (nearly Rs 18 crore). Killwatt's business comprises development, design, manufacture, sale and distribution of high-tech products and components in the field of electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicles, it added. TVS Motor Company on Saturday reported a 3 per cent growth in sales at 3,17,152 units in March 2023, as against 3,07,954 units sold in the same month last year. Total two-wheelers sales grew 5 per cent last month to 3,07,559 units, as compared to 2,92,918 units in March 2022, TVS Motor Company said in a statement. Domestic two-wheeler sales were at 2,40,780 units last month, as compared to 1,96,596 units in the year-ago period, up 22 per cent, it added. The company said sales of its TVS iQube electric scooter were at 15,364 units in March 2023, as against sales of 1,799 units in the same month last year. Three-wheeler sales were down at 9,593 units last month, as against 15,036 units in March 2022, it added. Total exports were also lower at 75,037 units in March 2023, as against 1,09,724 units in March 2022. Two-wheeler exports stood at 66,779 units last month, as against 95,962 units a year ago.
Two- and three-wheeler maker TVS Motor witnessed a 1.97 per cent decline in sales in February with sales of 2,76,150 units, the company said on Wednesday. The city-headquartered company had sold 2,81,714 units during the corresponding month of last year. Total two-wheeler sales in February 2023 marginally fell to 2,67,026 units from 2,67,625 units recorded in the same month of last year. Two-wheeler sales in the domestic market grew by 28 per cent to 2,21,402 units from 1,73,198 units sold in February 2022. Sales of motorcycles dropped to 1,26,243 units in February 2023 as compared to 1,43,523 units recorded in the same month of last year. Scooter sales witnessed a 21 per cent jump by registering 1,04,825 units in February 2023 from 86,616 units sold in February 2022, the company said. TVS Motor Company on Wednesday said its vehicle sales grew 3 per cent in the domestic market at 2,75,115 units in January. The company posted its vehicle sales at 2,66,788 units in the year-ago period. Its total two-wheeler sales registered a growth of 4 per cent at 2,64,710 units in January from 2,54,139 units last year, aided by a 29 per cent growth in the domestic two-wheeler sales, which stood at 2,16,471 units in the reporting month, the company said in a statement. In the two-wheeler sales, motorcycle sales volume dropped 12 per cent at 1,21,042 units in the previous month as against 1,37,630 units in 2022. Scooter sales, however, was up 32 per cent at 1,06,537 units during the month under review from 80,580 units last year, TVS said.
