The members had expressed concern with India's "lack of full transparency" in taking recourse to the Bali Decision as well as in replies to certain questions raised in the Agri Committee
The move is aimed at having a single authoritative source of reference as procurement executives had complained of problems over the presence of guidelines by multiple organisations in this regard
Public procurement of goods and services touched Rs 6,894 crore on government buying portal GeM in April alone on account of steps taken by the platform such as rapid onboarding of buyers
Companies with less than 20 per cent of domestic content in their goods or services will not able to participate in most of the government tenders and they are categorised as "non-local suppliers"
Towards this, the government has recently revised the general financial rules (GFR) and procurement manuals, and made advances in the use of technology in procurement
