Prasanna Kumar Motupalli was on Thursday appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the state-run NLC India Ltd (NLCIL), a Personnel Ministry order said. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Motupalli's appointment till the date of his superannuation that is June 30, 2026, it said. Motupalli, Executive Director of NTPC Ltd, is presently working as Managing Director in Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited on deputation basis.
State-owned NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) on Friday reported a 111.6 per cent increase in its consolidated profit at Rs 417.03 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2022, due to higher revenue from operations. The company had posted a consolidated profit of Rs 197.02 crore in the year-ago period, NLC India said in a filing to BSE. The consolidated revenue from operations of the public sector unit in the July-September period increased to Rs 3,489.28 crore from Rs 3,093.80 crore in the year-ago period. NLCIL is a navratna company under the administrative control of the coal ministry.
NLC India Ltd on Thursday said its board has approved investment proposals worth Rs 14,944.91 crore for setting up power and mining projects in Tamil Nadu. The company, which comes under the coal ministry, plans to invest over Rs 43,000 crore in various power and mining projects. According to a regulatory filing, the company's board of directors has approved the investment proposal for establishing Mine III (peak Capacity-11.50 MTPA & Normative capacity- 8.71 MTPA) at Neyveli, Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs 3,755.71 crore. The board has also given its go-ahead to the investment proposal to set up "TPS II 2nd Expansion Thermal Power Station (2 X 660 MW) at Neyveli, Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs 11,189.20 crore". NLC India has presence in TamilNadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
