The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will face several challenges while trying to attain the target of training 400 million people of the country. Three major ones are as follows.The first challenge is to find the most effective way of procuring funds: Should the money be pooled in through corporate social responsibility funds, general tax revenue or earmarked tax?The second challenge is to cope with the diversity of skill required. As the skill requirement of different states and of districts within them varies, no one plan can be all-pervasive. To tackle this issue, portfolios have to be formulated accordingly.Reaching the aim of ensuring employment for 70 per cent of the total number of people trained by this campaign is another challenge. NSDC Chief Executive Officer Jayant Krishna says this figure is currently 50 per cent, as four million people out of a total of eight million have been trained till now.Only if these challenges are dealt with properly can Skill India
