An all-time high of 748 districts participated in the prime minister's awards scheme for excellence in public administration, and a record 2,540 nominations were received from them, senior bureaucrat V Srinivas said on Monday. President Droupadi Murmu on Monday will confer the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2023 on 11 children for their exceptional achievements. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the awardees on Tuesday. Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani will also interact with the children and congratulate them in the presence of Minister of State for Women and Child Development Munjpara Mahendrabhai, according to an official statement. President Droupadi Murmu will confer national awards for outstanding work towards empowerment of persons with disabilities on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Saturday. In a statement, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment said the awards will be handed over to individuals, institutions, organisations and state/district, etc., for their outstanding achievements and work towards the empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. For the year 2022, a total of 1,210 applications were received for the award and the selection process consisted of examination of documents and records submitted by the applicants. These applications were screened and shortlisted by the Screening Committees constituted by the Department, it said. On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment confers National Awards every year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with winners of the National Awards to Teachers, 2022 on Teachers' Day on Monday, according to his office. "The purpose of National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate and honour the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country who through their commitment and hard work have not only improved the quality of school education, but also enriched the lives of their students," a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office said. "On the occasion of Teachers' Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the winners of National Awards to Teachers, 2022 at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg on September 5, 2022 at 4:30 pm," it said. The National Awards to Teachers accord public recognition to meritorious teachers working in elementary and secondary schools. For the award this year, 45 teachers from across the country were selected through a rigorous and transparent online three-stage process.
