Multiplex operator Inox Leisure is confident of pursuing an expansion strategy and has a pipeline of 834 additional screens after FY23, according to the latest annual report of the company. The company, which was operating 692 screens in 73 cities across India as on June 30, 2022, estimates the total screen count to go up to 752 by the end of ongoing fiscal year. "We are confident about pursuing our expansion strategy and with diligent efforts, we continuously work to expand the number of screens around the nation and strengthen our balance sheet," said Inox Leisure. Even in FY22, when the exhibition industry was impacted due to COVID-induced restrictions, "the company witnessed the highest screen addition, accounting to 32 in the industry (8 multiplex cinema theatres)." "We are prepared to welcome the movie-viewing audience back to our theatres and provide great services since we have a strong pipeline of future films," it said. Superstar Salman Khan, who is awaiting the theatrical release of his film "Antim: The Final Truth", on Monday said nothing can replace the joy of watching a movie on the big screen. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, "Antim" is reportedly a remake of the 2018 hit Marathi crime drama "Mulshi Pattern". The action drama is billed as a "gripping tale of two powerful men" with polar opposite ideologies; one a cop and the other a gangster, played by Khan and Aayush Sharma, respectively. Leading multiplex chain operator PVR Ltd on Friday reported narrowing of its consolidated net loss to Rs 153.13 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2021. The company had posted a net loss of Rs 184.06 crore in the July-September quarter a year ago, said PVR in a BSE filing. Its revenue from operations was up nearly threefold to Rs 120.32 crore during the quarter under review. It was Rs 40.45 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal when the screening business was completely closed last fiscal. PVR's total income was also up over twofold to Rs 275.21 crore as against Rs 110.61 crore of the corresponding quarter. Its total expenses were at Rs 460.68 crore, up 18.31 per cent in Q2/FY 2021-22 as against Rs 389.37 crore.
