Motorcycle maker Royal Enfield on Sunday reported a 7 per cent decline in total sales at 68,400 units in December 2022. The company had sold 73,739 units a year ago, Royal Enfield said in a statement. Domestic sales were down 8 per cent last month to 59,821 units compared to 65,187 units in December 2021. Exports were almost flat at 8,579 units against 8,552 units in the year-ago period, the company said.
Motorcycle maker Royal Enfield on Thursday reported a 53 per cent increase in total sales at 70,112 units in August, 2022. The company had sold 45,860 units in the same month last year, Royal Enfield said in a statement. Domestic sales were at 62,236 units as against 38,572 units in August 2021, registering a growth of 61 per cent, it added. Exports grew by 8.1 per cent at 7,876 units last month as compared to 7,288 units in the year-ago period, the company said. Royal Enfield CEO B Govindarajan said the company witnessed incremental volumes following the launch of its new bike Hunter 350 early last month and sales of the model will start across several international markets in the coming months.
Two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Wednesday reported a 3 per cent decline in total sales to 4,30,683 units in August. The company had sold 4,43,969 units in the same month last year. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said entering the festival season with a steady recovery in economic activity, the company's total sales stood at 4,30,683 units, including 4,01,469 domestic sales and 29,214 exports in August 2021. The domestic sales breached the 4-lakh mark with a growth of 18 per cent, compared to 3,40,420 units in July 2021, it said in a statement. The company's total sales in July stood at 3,84,920 units, including exports (44,500 units ), according to the statement. August ushers in the onset of the festival spirit in the country. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Wednesday reported 2 per cent decline in its total sales at 4,43,969 units in August. The company had sold a total of 4,52,551 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales last month stood at 4,28,231 units as against 4,25,664 units, a growth of 1 per cent, it said adding this was the first time in the ongoing fiscal that its domestic sales breached the 4 lakh units mark. Exports during the month stood at 15,738 units as against 26,887 units in August last year. Commenting on the sales performance, HMSI Director Sales & Marketing, Yadvinder Singh Guleria said,"In August, over 90 per cent of our network is back to business and we are seeing some green shoots with higher customer enquiries."
