Telecom gear maker HFCL on Wednesday said it bagged a Rs 282.61 crore contract from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation to deploy communication systems for Surat Metro Rail Project Phase-1. The company has to deploy the project within 90 days from the date of contract. "..the company has bagged an order worth Rs 282.61 crore from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited, for design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of telecommunication systems for Surat Metro Rail Project Phase-I," the company said in a regulatory filing. Under the contract, HFCL has to provide warranty support for 110 weeks for the system that it will deploy. HFCL has recently won a contract for the integration of communication networks in Kanpur-Agra metro rail project and is currently implementing telecom networks for seven greenfield dedicated freight corridor projects for Indian Railways. Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited (KPTL), a leading global EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) player in the power and infrastructure contracting sector, and its subsidiaries have secured new orders/notification of awards of Rs 2,290 crore at a consolidated level, a company statement said. These include orders from international markets in the power transmission business of Rs 1,416 crore. The Government of India and the Germany Development Bank KfW (Kreditanstalt fr Wiederaufbau) on Friday signed a 442.26 million euros loan pact for Surat Metro Rail project. The total cost of the project is 1.5 billion euros, of which KfW is financing 442.26 million euros, a Finance Ministry statement said. The project is being co-financed by French Development Agency, AFD (Agence Franaise de Dveloppemet). The Agreement with AFD for 250 million euros was signed on January 28, 2021, it said. "The 40.35 km Surat Metro project aims to strengthen and augment the transport infrastructure of the Surat urban agglomeration. It will relieve traffic congestion and provide integrate town and land use planning through Transit-Oriented Development," it said.
