There has been a 69-per cent increase in the number of medical colleges in the country, from 387 before 2014 to 654 as of now, the government informed Parliament on Tuesday. The Haryana government on Wednesday reduced the bond policy amount from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 30 lakh and cut down the duration of compulsory government service from seven to five years, but the move failed to cut ice with MBBS students. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the commencement of classes in the eight newly-established state government medical colleges on Tuesday. A press release from Rao's office said the medical colleges will be launched online from Pragathi Bhavan, his official residence here. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a day-long visit to Madhya Pradesh on Sunday during which he will launch the state government's ambitious project to impart medical education in Hindi. The senior BJP leader will also lay the foundation stone of a new airport terminal in Gwalior, according to official information.
