The price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was on Sunday hiked by Rs 102.50, the third straight monthly increase. With this, the 19-kg commercial cooking gas cylinder will now cost Rs 2,355.50, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers. The commercial LPG price was increased by Rs 105 on March 1 and by Rs 250 on April 1. However, there has been no change in the prices of domestic gas cylinders. In March, the price of domestic cooking gas (LPG) was hiked by Rs 50 per cylinder. A 14.2-kg LPG cylinder is costing Rs 949.50 in Delhi from March 22 onwards.

IOC Chairman S M Vaidya on Monday launched missed call facility for availing new LPG connection anywhere in the country, the company said in a statement. He also inaugurated the facility to avail double bottle connection (DBC) at the customer's doorstep. Under this initiative, delivery personnel will offer existing single bottle connections (SBC) customers the option to convert to a DBC. Price of domestic cooking gas, LPG has doubled to Rs 819 per cylinder in the last seven years while the increase in taxes on petrol and diesel has swelled collections by over 459 per cent, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Monday. In written replies to a spate of questions on rising fuel prices in the Lok Sabha, Pradhan said the retail selling price of domestic gas was Rs 410.5 per 14.2-kg cylinder on March 1, 2014. This month, the same cylinder costs Rs 819. Small price hikes over the past couple of years have eliminated subsidy on cooking gas as well as PDS kerosene. Pradhan said the price of domestic subsidised LPG has been raised during the last few months. It cost Rs 594 per cylinder in December 2020 and now is priced at Rs 819. Similarly, kerosene sold to the poor through the public distribution system (PDS) has risen from Rs 14.96 per litre in March 2014 to Rs 35.35 this month, he said.
