Delhi Police has registered a case in connection with the protest held outside the Indian High Commission in London on March 19, officials said here on Friday. The case was registered by the special cell under the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act as it involves unlawful activities carried out by certain people holding Indian nationality abroad, a senior police officer said. It was done after the Ministry of Home Affairs directed the Delhi Police to take appropriate legal action on the receipt of a report from the Ministry of External Affairs over the incident at the Indian High Commission March 19. Last Sunday, the tricolour flying atop the Indian High Commission in London was grabbed at by a group of protesters waving separatist Khalistani flags and chanting pro-Khalistani slogans, leading to an arrest related to the violent disorder. A man has been arrested after some pro-Khalistani groups vandalised the Indian High Commission in London and detached the Indian flag from the first-floor balcony of the building
The tricolour flying atop the Indian High Commission in London was pulled down by a group of protesters waving separatist Khalistani flags and chanting pro-Khalistani slogans on Sunday evening. Scotland Yard said it was "aware" of an incident in the area but is yet to issue an official statement. India has, meanwhile, registered its strong protest with the British government over the safety of its diplomatic mission and questioned the lack of sufficient security at the premises. Images of shattered windows and men climbing the India House building were circulating on social media and videos from the scene show an Indian official grabbing the flag from a protester through the first-floor window of the mission, while the protester is seen waving a Khalistan flag hanging off its ledge. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the senior-most UK diplomat in New Delhi was summoned late evening on Sunday to convey India's strong protest at the actions taken by separatist and extremist
The controversial colonial-era Kohinoor diamond claimed by India is to be cast as a symbol of conquest as part of a new display of Britain's Crown Jewels at the Tower of London set to open to the public in May. Historic Royal Palaces (HRP), the charity that manages Britain's palaces, said this week that the new Jewel House exhibition will explore the history of the Kohinoor also known as Koh-i-Noor through a combination of objects and visual projections. The infamous diamond, which is set within the Crown of the mother of the late Queen Elizabeth II, remains within the Tower after Camilla in a diplomatic move chose not to use this traditional crown for her coronation with King Charles II on May 6. The history of the Koh-i-Noor, which is set within the Crown of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, will be explored, HRP said, with reference to the new planned display. A combination of objects and visual projections will explain the stone's story as a symbol of conquest, with many ..

Accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of abusing Indians and the Parliament, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said he visits Karnataka for 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', and while in London, speaks about 'Bharat Todo' (dividing India). Repeatedly invoking Lord Ram and Hanuman while participating in the BJP's 'Vijaya Sankalpa Yatre' here, Sarma praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, and urged the people of the state to vote the party back to power in Karnataka in the Assembly polls, likely by May. Anjanadri in Gangavathi taluk of Koppal district is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, and the state government has allocated Rs 120 crore for the development of the revered place. "If Prime Minister Modi goes to London or America, he heaps praise on India, but when our Rahul baba (Rahul Gandhi) goes to London, he abuses Indians and India's Parliament," Sarma said. Addressing a gathering here, the BJP leader said: "He (Rahul Gandhi) comes to Karnataka and

It was called Silicon Valley Bank, but its collapse is causing shockwaves around the world. From winemakers in California to startups across the Atlantic Ocean, companies are scrambling to figure out how to manage their finances after their bank suddenly shut down Friday. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) likes to believe it will be in power in India eternally but that is not the case, and to say the Congress is "gone" is a ridiculous idea, Opposition MP Rahul Gandhi said in London on Monday. Addressing an in-conversation session at the Chatham House think tank on Monday evening to round off his week-long UK tour, Gandhi also pinpointed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government's lack of focus on a shifting nature of the political discourse in India as the key factor behind its failure. "To put it in perspective, if you look at the time from independence to now, the Congress party has been in power for the majority of the time," he said. "Before the BJP was in power for 10 years, we were in power for 10 years. The BJP likes to believe that they have come to power in India and they are going to be in power eternally, that is not the case," the Congress leader added. The BJP-led government came to power in India in 2014. Gandhi, th

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sought Western support for his country in surprise visits to Britain and France on Wednesday, pushing for fighter jets to battle Russian invaders in a dramatic speech to the UK Parliament, and then flying to Paris to meet the French and German leaders over dinner at the Elysee Palace. The embattled leader's European tour and pleas for more advanced weapons came as Ukraine braces for an expected Russian offensive and hatches its own plans to retake land held by Moscow's forces. Western support has been key to Kyiv's surprisingly stiff defense, and the two sides are engaged in grinding battles. Zelenskyy thanked the British people for their support since "Day One' of Moscow's invasion nearly a year ago, as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said fighter jets were "part of the conversation" about aid to Ukraine. 'Nothing is off the table," he said at an evening news conference at a British army base. "We must arm Ukraine in the short term, but we must ..
