World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen defeated India's grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa to clinch the title of International Chess Federation World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan on Thursday. The Norwegian chess grandmaster won the first game of the Rapid Chess tie-breaker with black pieces and manged to hold on for a draw in the second game with white pieces. The tie breaker is played in a Rapid Chess quicker-time control format. Praggnanandhaa fought hard but fell short with Carlsen summoning all his big match experience when it mattered the most. Earlier on Wednesday Praggnanandhaa and Carlsen drew both their games of Classical Chess. A low pressure over the Bay of Bengal developed today which is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall coupled with gusty surface wind in the next 24 hours, the Met department said today. Under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood, the weatherman said. Under its impact, rain and thundershower are likely to occur in most areas in Odisha. Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to take place in some areas with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in northern districts, while heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in south Odisha in the next 24 hours. Strong gusty surface wind from northwesterly direction with speed reaching 45-50 kmph and gusting up to 60 kmph may prevail in south coastal Odisha, it said.
