Imparting education in Indian languages will result in world-class knowledge and science, President Droupadi Murmu said on Monday. Speaking at the 36th convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Murmu lauded the progress made by women in several sectors, including education, and noted that 55 per cent of the students who received their degrees, certificates and diplomas were women. "I am happy to note that there are 55 per cent girl students among those who received their degrees, certificates and diplomas at the university. President Droupadi Murmu will visit Bikaner in Rajasthan on Monday to grace the 14th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said on Sunday. The 14th edition of the festival will be organised from February 25 to March 5 at Karni Singh Stadium in Bikaner by the Union Ministry of Culture. The nine-day cultural extravaganza will see participation of artistes from across India. : President Droupadi Murmu Monday stressed on the need to build better infrastructure in the strategically located Arunachal Pradesh given that it shares borders with three countries. Speaking on the occassion of the northeastern state's 37th Statehood Day, Murmu said she was "happy to note" that several ambitious infrastructure projects were being taken up in Arunachal, which is also geographically, the largest state. Six 'Agniveers' will be part of the Navy's marching contingent during the 74th Republic Day celebrations on Thursday when the ceremonial parade will take place on Kartavya Path amid patriotic fervour. She offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. President Droupadi Murmu will launch Haryana Roadways' e-ticketing system in Kurukshetra on November 29, according to an official statement. The new e-ticketing system will not only benefit passengers but will also plug revenue leakage for the state-run transport, it said on Sunday. The e-ticketing system will replace the existing manual printed tickets with an open loop system as envisioned by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, it said. Under the new system, 10 lakh National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) will be issued for free or at concessional rates. In the initial phase, the project will be implemented in six depots --Chandigarh, Karnal, Faridabad, Sonipat, Bhiwani and Sirsa. It will be extended to the remaining 18 depots by the end of January 2023, the government said. In future, the NCMCs can be used in metros and trains, too, it added.
