India saw a single-day rise of 99 coronavirus infections and no deaths, according to Union health ministry data updated on Friday. The total tally of Covid cases was recorded at 4.46 crore (4,46,83,122) and the death toll stands at 5,30,741, the data updated at 8 am stated. The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 0.06 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was 0.07 per cent, it stated. The active cases have increased from 1,763 to 1,764 on Thursday, according to the health ministry's website. The active cases comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections while the national recovery rate has increased to 98.81 per cent. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has increased to 4,41,50,617. The case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.19 per cent, the data stated. According to the ministry's website, 220.54 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.05 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 0.07 per cent. Active cases now comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 98.81 per cent, the ministry website showed. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,50,289 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent. According to the website, 220.48 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered so far under the nationwide drive.

Lymphatic filariasis is not a neglected disease for India as may be the case in some other countries but is a priority for elimination in a time-bound manner, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said Friday. Inaugurating the National Symposium on India's Roadmap to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis here, he reiterated India's commitment towards the target of eradicating the disease from the country by end of 2027. The Kerala government has granted an additional Rs 200 crore for Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi (KASAP), its integrated health protection scheme that is estimated to have benefited 64 lakh people in the southern state. With this additional allocation, the total amount granted for the flagship scheme in the present financial year has gone up to Rs 800 crore, state Finance Minister K N Balagopal said in a statement. He said KASAP is a comprehensive scheme which ensures the healthcare of 42 lakh families in Kerala and the State Health Agency under the Health Department, is implementing the programme.
