The Indian Air Force on Saturday put up a dazzling show here with over 70 military aircraft and helicopters, drawn from its modern and vintage fleet, displaying skillful manoeuvres on the occasion of its 90th anniversary celebrations. It is the IAF's first annual Air Force Day parade and fly-past outside the Delhi-National Capital Region. Prior to the spectacular air display, a ceremonial parade was held at the air force station here in the morning which, was inspected by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari. In his address, Chaudhari said the central government has approved the creation of a weapon system branch for IAF officers, which would save around Rs 3,400 crore in flying training. President Murmu was the chief guest for the air show. Pakistan's dependence on China is going to increase as the country is set to reel under a Chinese debt-trap, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria said. Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria said India's "most important" national security challenge is to understand China, its "possible game plan" and the deepening and evolving Sino-Pak relationship.
The Indian Navy's Vikramaditya carrier battle group, the Nimitz strike group of the US Navy and several frontline warships from the Australian and Japanese navies are carrying out a four-day high-intensity war game in the Northern Arabian Sea as part of the second phase of the Malabar exercise. This exercise involves coordinated operations of increasing complexity among the navies of the four countries which are part of the Quad or Quadrilateral Coalition. The first phase of the Malabar exercise took place in the Bay of Bengal from November 3 to 6 and featured a number of complex drills including anti-submarine and anti-air warfare operations. The mega exercise is taking place at a time India and China are locked in an over six-month-long bitter border standoff in eastern Ladakh that has majorly strained the ties between the two countries.
