Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India on Wednesday reported a 10.7 per cent increase in domestic sales at 2,33,151 units in December 2022. The company had registered domestic sales of 2,10,638 units in the year-ago period, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) said in a statement. "The market is gaining steady momentum against previous months as well as on a year-on-year basis. Factors like healthy festival season, good monsoon and increased demand for personal mobility have translated well to rise in customer walk-ins and enquiries," HMSI Managing Director, President & CEO Atsushi Ogata said. On the outlook, he said, "Stepping into 2023, we expect that the continuously improving consumer sentiment along with the enhanced effort towards the betterment of economy and infrastructure will build the momentum further.

Two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Wednesday reported a 3 per cent decline in total sales to 4,30,683 units in August. The company had sold 4,43,969 units in the same month last year. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said entering the festival season with a steady recovery in economic activity, the company's total sales stood at 4,30,683 units, including 4,01,469 domestic sales and 29,214 exports in August 2021. The domestic sales breached the 4-lakh mark with a growth of 18 per cent, compared to 3,40,420 units in July 2021, it said in a statement. The company's total sales in July stood at 3,84,920 units, including exports (44,500 units ), according to the statement. August ushers in the onset of the festival spirit in the country. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is exploring the possibility of exporting its mid-sized premium bike H'ness CB350 to various markets across the globe even as it works to cater to the robust demand for the model in the domestic market, a senior company official said. The company rolls out the bike with over 90 per cent localisation from its Manesar (Haryana) based manufacturing facility. HMSI had introduced the bike in October 2020 and has already crossed 10,000 sales mark in February this year in the domestic market. "Since this model is already meeting the European regulations, there are many countries where this model could be exported. So we are in discussion with our headquarters. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India on Wednesday said it does not see any revival in the automobile sector in the near term. The automobile sector recorded its worst-ever sales decline in two decades in 2019. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today said it has retailed over 52,000 units on the first day of Navratra festival. The company said its sales grew by 122 per cent to over 52,000 units, a record for the company, on the first day of the festival as compared with 23,702 units in 2016. "By strategically advancing the start of the new assembly line (in Karnataka plant), Honda's production has increased by additional 50,000 two-wheelers per month ahead of the auspicious period," HMSI Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria said in a statement.
