Swedish apparel retailer H&M on Tuesday announced the appointment of Yanira Ramirez as the new country sales manager for India. Previously global Sales Manager for & Other Stories, Ramirez joins the India team at a time when H&M India has 50 stores across 25 cities, a newly launched digital loyalty programme and a strong online presence on hm.com and Myntra, the company said in a statement. She will be based out of H&M India's head office in New Delhi, it added. A qualified lawyer, Ramirez had joined the H&M Group 18 years ago. Originally from Mexico, she started her journey with H&M in the UK as a sales adviser in the store and then moved on to become an Area Manager, post which she became Country HR for H&M UK & IE and then joined the Global Sales and Operations HR team in Sweden, the company said.
Swedish fashion retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) plans to hire 800 people this year as part of expansion plans of its sales network here, said a top company official. Besides, H&M group, which has a total of nine labels in its umbrella, will not introduce any other brands in India under the current single brand FDI retail policy due to the sourcing requirements. "We have 3,500 people working for the retail company and we would hire 800 more this year," H&M India Country Manager Janne Einola told PTI. He added that the new hirings would be for the new stores which the company intends to open here. However, Einola did not share the number of stores, which H&M may open this year but said that it would maintain its pace here. "Last year we have opened 17 store and I would continue the same pace this year. It would also depend on the availability of real estate at the locations where we want to go," he added. Swedish fashion retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) is planning to have an online presence in the country this year. The multinational retail giant nets around 12 per cent of global sales volume from online now. "We plan to launch our online store this year," H&M India country manager Janne Einola told reporters at the Retail Leadership Forum here, without giving a timeline. Deliveries would be undertaken by a third-party logistics partner, he said. "As of now we will not be integrating our physical stores with online operations, but we will evaluate the business as it goes along," he said. The company will not tie up with any of the online marketplaces, and will go solo for online sales, Einola said. While the H&M India country manager didn't put a number to the online sales expectations from here, he said "it's a market with good potential".
