An FIR has been lodged against a high-rise society resident after his pet dog bit a six-year-old child inside their building's lift in Greater Noida (West), a police official said Thursday. The Greater Noida Authority also slapped a penalty of Rs 10,000 on the pet owner and asked him to bear the medical expenses of the child. According to the complaint lodged by the police, the child was returning to his 16th-floor home in La Residentia society after school on Tuesday and he was with his mother inside their building's lift. The CCTV footage of the episode also made its way to social media, purportedly showing the dog lunging at the child and biting on his arm. There were only three people -- the child in the school uniform, his mother and the pet owner -- besides the dog in the lift at the time, the footage showed. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday dedicated more than a dozen development projects worth Rs 1,670 crore to public in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The works included Ganga water project for Greater Noida, a city bus terminal and underpasses in Noida, and a major sewage treatment plant (STP) along the Yamuna Expressway, according to an official statement. The fire department received more than a dozen calls from Noida and Greater Noida on Diwali, officials said on Tuesday. Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Arun Kumar Singh said, no loss of life was reported in any of the incidents. In two instances, the water tenders and firefighters returned midway after the flames were doused before they arrived at the spot. "Altogether 13 fire incidents were reported from 6 am Monday till 6 am Tuesday. Three fire incidents were reported from homes, including an apartment in a high rise society, while rest were from shops and garbage dumping spots in Noida and Greater Noida," Singh said. One water tender and four fighters were sent at 12 spots, he said. In the wake of Supertech's twin tower demolition in Noida, a group of homebuyers in Greater Noida's Shahberi area has written to local authorities demanding their "illegal" houses, declared "dangerous" in an IIT Delhi audit, be demolished. The group -- Justice For Shaberi Homebuyers -- has demanded that after the demolition of the illegal structures, they be given homes as per norms of the Uttar Pradesh Rehabilitation Act 2013. Shahberi, which lies in Greater Noida (West) also known as Noida Extension, had hogged limelight on July 17, 2018 when two adjoining buildings had collapsed onto each other, leaving nine people, including a child and two women, dead.
