Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said 27,042 government jobs have been given to the youth during past one year. "Idle hands (mind) are devil's workshop. So we are trying our best to ensure that maximum youth get jobs so that they do not fall prey to the social menaces," said the chief minister as he handed over job letters here during a function here. A state government statement said Mann handed over job letters to 219 clerks and 26 youngsters on compassionate grounds. The chief minister said unemployment is the root cause of several social problems due to which the state government is focussing on eradicating this malady. The government has sought applications for a total of three positions of judicial and technical members at the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT). The applications have been invited for the position of one judicial member and two technical members at the NCLAT. The last date for submission of the applications online is January 23, 2023, according to a public notice issued by the corporate affairs ministry on Friday. As per the requirements for the positions at NCLAT, the applicants should be at least 50 years old. Over 10 lakh e-Shram registrants have registered on the National Career Service (NCS) portal and are getting jobs accordingly, an official statement said on Friday. The portal of the Ministry of Labour and Employment was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 20, 2015. "So far, more than 10 lakh e-Shram registrants have registered on NCS portal and eShram workers are getting decent jobs through NCS," according to a presentation at the Meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Members of Parliament for the Ministry of Labour and Employment. There are around 9.79 lakh vacancies in the central government for different posts and departments, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday. As per Annual Report of Pay Research Unit of Department of Expenditure, 9,79,327 posts are vacant under various ministries/departments of the central government, as on March 1, 2021, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply. "Occurrence and filling up vacancies is a continuous process, as per the requirement of various ministries/departments/organisations of central government," he said. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said the Cabinet will give its nod for direct recruitment of sportspersons in government jobs through the selection committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Department of Sports) and also to give Group-A jobs for medal winners in Olympics and Paralympics who are degree holders. Medal winners in Asian Games and Commonwealth and degree holders will be given Group B jobs while those who have bagged medals in other sports events will be given Group C and Group D jobs, Bommai said. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said one-year work experience would be made "compulsory" for recruitment in state government departments. He said fresh candidates would not be taken directly into government service. Aspirants would have to get experience by working in the private sector before applying for government jobs. Addressing a function at Taleigao village in North Goa, Sawant said one-year work experience would be made mandatory for those looking for government jobs in the future. Such a practice would help the government get skilled manpower, said the chief minister. The CM said necessary amendments would be made in Recruitment Rules (RRs) to ensure only suitable candidates are selected for vacant posts. Sawant also said recruitment through the Staff Selection Commission would be made compulsory in the future.

The Tripura government has initiated a process to introduce reservation for sportspersons in government jobs, a minister said here on Friday. The reservation for sportspersons would mainly be in Group C and D category posts, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said. Chief Minister Manik Saha has shown interest in the reservation proposal for sportspersons that will encourage the youth to take up sports activities seriously, said Chowdhury. "We have already collected notifications providing reservation to sportspersons from various state governments including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Manipur. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved a proposal allowing candidates from the reserved category to apply for government jobs even if they do not possess an OBC/MBC/EWS certificate. Those belonging to other backward class (OBC), most backward class (MBC) or economically weaker section (EWS) can apply for jobs by submitting an affidavit if they do not have a caste certificate due to any reason, an official statement said on Saturday. The UPSC has started a one time registration (OTR) facility for government job aspirants who will now not be required to fill in their basic details every time they apply for different recruitment examinations. The aspirants, who wish to apply for any future examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), are required to register themselves in the OTR platform by filling up their basic personal information indicated therein. "A large number of aspirants apply for a host of examinations conducted by the UPSC throughout the year to select officers for different central government departments/organisations.
