Air Force Station Gorakhpur will be organising a public outreach programme 'Know Your Forces' on Tuesday as part of the 74th Republic Day celebrations to showcase the might of the IAF and motivate young people to join the defence forces. An official statement issued here said that the aim of the programme is to motivate the youth of Gorakhpur and surrounding areas and familiarise them with the Indian Armed Forces in general and Indian Air Force in particular. Students of more than 25 prominent schools and colleges of the area are being invited to the event. The event will include a static and an aerial display of fighter aircraft, helicopters, and other IAF assets and slithering operation by Special Forces. A slithering operation is an exercise in which troops are dropped from a chopper using a rope at a location where the helicopter cannot land. The visitors will also be briefed about the role and various career opportunities in the Indian Air Force, the statement said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is also Gorakshpeethadhishwer', led the traditional Vijayadashami Shobha Yatra' here on Tuesday with a grand turnout and series of welcomes by local people. The procession saw participation of members of different communities. The CM rode a chariot decorated with flowers and was welcomed by members of Muslim and Sindhi communities as he distributed prasad' to them. The yatra started at 4.30 pm from Gorakhnath temple after Adityanath performed a puja of Guru Gorakhnath. A special court Monday granted the Anti-Terrorist Squad seven-day custody of Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi in connection with an attack on security personnel at the Gorakhpur temple earlier this month. His custody period would begin Tuesday and end on May 3. The ATS had produced Murtaza in the court of in-charge ATS judge Mohammad Gazali after bringing him from a Gorakhpur jail. It also produced a letter of the Gorakhpur jail superintendent, requesting that Murtaza be sent to a jail in Lucknow. Initially, the court granted his judicial custody till April 30. However, the ATS moved an application seeking Murtaza's custody for seven days. It was submitted that some important data was received from electronic equipment recovered from him, and his social media platform, and it was necessary to take his custody to interrogate him on these. The first direct flight between Gorakhpur and Varanasi was flagged-off on Sunday.SpiceJet was awarded the route under the RCS-UDAN 4.1, as per a press release by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.The airline will be operating daily flights and will deploy its Q400, 78-seater turboprop aircraft designed for shorter-distance flights on the route. SpiceJet is India's largest regional carrier. The airline operates 63 daily flights under UDAN connecting 14 UDAN destinations to various parts of the country, stated the press release.At present SpiceJet is providing its services at Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Kanpur and Kushinagar airports in Uttar Pradesh. This new flight route is a part of nine new UDAN flights that SpiceJet will be launching today, out of which, six will be for Uttar Pradesh specially and three will be for other states of the country.Speaking on the occasion, Scindia said, "Today is a historic day as we are connecting two ancient cities which have deep cultural and religious impact .
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yogi Adityanath won Gorakhpur Urban seat with a massive margin of 54,858 votes.His victory comes as the BJP is on course to retain power in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will file his nomination papers for the Gorakhpur Urban seat on Friday. He will reach the city on Thursday. Union Home minister Amit Shah, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and party state president Swatantra Dev Singh will be present during the filing of the nomination, BJP media cell in-charge Bachcha Pandey said on Wednesday. Before filing the nomination, Yogi will address a meeting at Maharana Pratap Inter College ground under COVID protocols, Pandey said. On Thursday he will hold a meeting with party office bearers and booth presidents. On Friday afternoon, he will address voter awareness convention at Gorakhpur club and also Prabudhdh Varg Sammelan at Nipal lodge. On Saturday, he will address Sikh community at Mohaddipur Gurudwara, Pandey added.
