The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) started a demolition drive on Friday in the Mehrauli area amid police security. Locals claimed that the drive that started in the morning was demolishing two and three-storeyed buildings near Aulia Masjid at Andehria More along with shanties. The land on which the alleged encroachment was done belonged to multiple agencies including DDA, Waqf Board, and ASI, they claimed. "A demolition drive is being carried out by the Horticulture Department of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. Police personnel have been deployed on the spot as preventive protection for DDA officials to carry out their duties and also to maintain law and order in the locality. Initially, the localities had staged a protest against the demolition but the situation was later brought under control," said a senior police official. Senior bureaucrats Santosh Kumar Yadav was on Monday appointed as chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), according to a Personnel ministry order. Yadav, a 1995-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, is currently additional secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education. Realty firm Omaxe has bagged a project from DDA to develop a sports complex and retail project at Dwarka in the national capital at a cost of Rs 2,100 crore. The company has secured this 50-acre project from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under the "Design Build Finance and Operate" model. It will build both outdoor and indoor sports facilities. A large cricket-cum-football stadium is also being planned, besides a retail area. The total investment is estimated at about Rs 2,100 crore, of which Rs 1,300 -1,400 crore will be on sports complex and the rest on retail area. Omaxe Ltd Chairman Rohtas Goel said: "We have bagged a project from DDA, located in Dwarka, New Delhi." It will be the first sports facility to be developed by the DDA in PPP (Public Private Partnership) model. "We will develop a world-class cricket stadium and sports complex in this project. A project to identify real-time sources of pollution in Delhi has moved one step closer towards operationalisation, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday. Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and Environment Department of Delhi government on Tuesday held the second review meeting of the project Real-time source apportionment study and pollution forecasting' with the team from IIT Kanpur and other partner organisations, the government said in a statement. The project was approved by the Delhi cabinet and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in October last year. A team of IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI), and Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali will execute the study in the national capital. The planning body of the Delhi Development Authority on Friday approved the transportation plan for the Central Vista redevelopment project, an official said. The foundation stone of the Central Vista project was laid in December 2020. The revamp envisages a new triangular Parliament building, with seating capacity for 900 to 1,200 MPs, that is targeted to be constructed by August 2022 when the country will be celebrating its 75th Independence Day. The common Central Secretariat is likely to be built by 2024. The Central Vista redevelopment seeks to upgrade the boulevard running from Vijay Chowk to India Gate with more amenities.
