Fintech firm mPokket on Wednesday said that an app impersonating it has been blocked by the government and it has no partnership with the blocked platform. The government has last week ordered blocking of 232 apps operated by overseas entities, including Chinese, for being involved in betting, gambling and unauthorised loan service "The domain in the list issued by MeiTY this week, mpokket.en.aptoide.com, is a clear instance of impersonation and has no affiliation with mPokket whatsoever. Aptoide is a third-party app store with which we have no official or unofficial partnership," mPokket said in a statement. The Delhi Police is celebrating safer internet month posting videos regarding cyber awareness everyday starting from Monday, officials said. A senior police officer said the campaign was started from Monday which is celebrated as 'safer internet day'. "Through this campaign (Cool bano fool nahi), our motive is to spread awareness about the cyber crime which is increasing now a days rapidly. A one-minute video is being posted everyday till February 28 started from Monday. This is for every age group," the officer said. Interspersed with music and message, the video talks about creative awareness in a comic way so that it could reach to a bigger audience, they said. Everyday, the video has different topics, including earn from home, insurance frauds, ransomware update, Whatsapp and social media fake account, cyber bullying, sextortion - video calls, lottery or reward scams, dating apps, protect your information during the holiday online shopping season, payment gateway frauds etc., .
The Quad -- a plurilateral framework comprising India, Australia, Japan and the US -- has announced the launch of a public campaign to improve cyber security in these four nations. Named "Quad Cyber Challenge", Internet users across the Indo-Pacific and beyond have been invited to join it and pledge to practice safe and responsible cyber habits, the White House said. According to a media release, the initiative reflects the Quad's continuing efforts to strengthen people's cyber security awareness and action as well as to foster a more secure and resilient cyber ecosystem to benefit economies and users everywhere.
