Central Armed Police Forces CAPF

A total of 84,866 posts are lying vacant in six Central Armed Police Forces like the CRPF and BSF against the total sanctioned strength of 10,05,520, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said recruitment of 31,785 personnel in the CAPFs has been done in the past five months. The vacancies in the CAPFs arise on account of retirements, resignation, promotion, death, new raising of battalion, creation of new posts etc, he said. As on January 1, 2023, there were 29,283 vacancies in the CRPF, 19,987 in BSF, 19,475 vacancies in the CISF, 8,273 in SSB, 4,142 in ITBP and 3,706 in the Assam Rifles, he said replying to a written question. Rai said as on January 1, 2023, a total of 247 posts of doctors and 2,354 posts of nurses and other medical professionals were lying vacant in the Central Armed Police Forces.

The Central Industrial Security Force has earned Rs 325.67 crore for providing security services to private sector undertakings during the last three years, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said on Wednesday. Rai said in Rajya Sabha that according to the CISF Act, 1968, the force is deployed for security duties of private industrial undertakings on request on the basis of threat assessment. Revenue earned and credited to the Consolidated Fund of India on account of deployment of the CISF on security services for private sector undertakings during last three years is: Rs 1,15,21,69,545 in 2021-22, Rs 1,11,54,96,912 in 2020-21, Rs 98,90,60,330 in 2019-21, he said replying to a written question. The minister said the CISF also provides technical consultancy service to industrial establishments and the revenue earned and credited to the consolidated fund of India by way of consultancy fee from private sector during last three years is Rs 37,50,000.

The BSF on Sunday shot down a drone that had allegedly entered Indian territory from across the border in the Amritsar sector, officials said. Border Security Force (BSF) troops deployed along the International Border with Pakistan intercepted and brought down the drone, they said. BSF troops deployed at the border heard the buzzing noise of a suspected drone entering from Pakistan in the area near Shahjada village in Amritsar (Rural) district at 2.11 am, a BSF official said in a statement issued here. The troops intercepted the drone as per the drill laid down and fired at it, he said. The area was cordoned off and police and other agencies concerned were informed. During the search, the troops recovered the partially damaged drone. The black, DJI Matrice (Made in China) drone was lying near Dhussi Bundh close to Shahjada village, the statement added.

More than 83,000 posts were lying vacant in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), such as the CRPF and the BSF, as on January 1, against the total strength of 10,15,237 posts, the government informed Parliament on Tuesday. The forces in which the posts are lying vacant are Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Assam Rifles. "The current number of vacancies as on January 1, 2023 in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles are 83,127 against total sanctioned strength of 10,15,237," Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. A total of 400 companies of central forces will be deployed in Tripura to ensure free and fair assembly elections later this month, a senior police officer on Wednesday. Elections to the 60-member assembly will be held on February 16. Around 200 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be arriving here by first week of February for area domination, patrolling and flag march apart from counter insurgency operations, Assistant Inspector General (Law & Order) Jyotishman Das Chowdhury said. A parliamentary committee has expressed its disappointment over the very minuscule number of women being recruited in Central Armed Police Forces like the CRPF and BSF and sought action to create a conducive environment at border outposts so that women are motivated to join security forces. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, headed by BJP's Rajya Sabha member Brijlal, noted that despite efforts of the home ministry to encourage the recruitment of women in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, the strength of women personnel is "abysmally low". Nearly two lakh people were recruited in six Central Armed Police Forces like the BSF and the CRPF in the last five years as part of the Narendra Modi government's efforts to provide jobs to unemployed youths, officials said. However, as of July-end this year, there are still over 84,000 vacancies in these forces the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Assam Rifles (AR). The Indian Air Force (IAF) has received 94,281 applications under the Agnipath recruitment scheme within four days of the registration process getting underway on Friday. After the scheme was unveiled on June 14, violent protests against it rocked several states for nearly a week and several opposition parties have been demanding its rollback. "A total of 94,281 Agniveer Vayu aspirants have registered till 10:30 am (Monday). Registration closes on July 5," Defence Ministry Spokesperson A Bharat Bhushan Babu said on Twitter.
