Deepak Hooda scored a brilliant 47* to guide India home to a seven wicket win over Ireland in the first match of the two match series at The Village in Dublin. Batting first, Ireland scored 108-4 in their 12 overs thanks to Harry Tector's mesmerising 64* which came off just 33 balls. 

India lost two quick wickets in the chase as Ishan Kishan and his Mumbai Indians' partners Suryakumar Yadav got out in quick succession even as Hooda, who was sent in as an opener, held fort at the other end. He then had a strong 64 runs stand with Hardik Pandya for the fourth wicket and got India as close to victory as possible. Pandya did get out though before the win was achieved, but Hooda made sure that India won by seven wickets with 16 balls to spare in a 12 over game.

India captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first at The Village in Dublin. He said the reason for choosing to field first was the rain in the air and it predicted him to chase because Duck-Worth Lewis will come in action.
