Basic materials shares fall

Basic materials stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index falling 107.22 points or 2.1% at 4998.55 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, The Ramco Cements Ltd (down 8.32%), Dalmia Bharat Ltd (down 7.68%),Fine Organic Industries Ltd (down 7.43%),J K Cements Ltd (down 7.23%),Grasim Industries Ltd (down 6.64%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (down 6.32%), DCW Ltd (down 4.9%), Shree Cement Ltd (down 4.76%), Birla Corporation Ltd (down 4.46%), and Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd (down 4.45%).

On the other hand, Kiri Industries Ltd (up 8.15%), Bodal Chemicals Ltd (up 4.82%), and Anjani Portland Cement Ltd (up 3.73%) moved up.

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 288.43 or 0.52% at 56106.54.

The Nifty 50 index was up 48.05 points or 0.29% at 16676.05.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 164.72 points or 0.62% at 26530.06.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 69.78 points or 0.85% at 8134.02.

On BSE,1555 shares were trading in green, 1689 were trading in red and 133 were unchanged.
