India reported an increase of 2,613 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 79,313. The country is twenty-sixth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On June 21, it added 9,923 cases to take its total caseload to 43,319,396. And, with 17 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524,890, or 1.21 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,300,024 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on June 20, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,963,243,003. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,715,193 — or 98.61 per cent of total caseload — with 7,293 new cured cases being reported on June 21.
